If you can come up with a scratchable rule in the rule book then sure. But ill fill you in there isn't one

Was in a hunt a while back. My dog gets excited if people walk around him near a tree. These guys wanted me out of the cast. As I was shining my tree I tied my dog back a good ways off the tree. I seen them talking about something and i asked them what about. They said bud we don't know what to do about this. I said about what? He said your dog bit this other guy 2 times. I started laughing and said well you want to scratch me for it? Said go ahead and we will drive an hour back to the clubhouse and by nights end you will both know the rule that a dog cannot in any way be scratched for bitting a handler.

I said so let me ask you this. What in the heck were you doing standing right over my dog that was tied back 15 yards off the tree? Asked if he was begging him to bite him. Then i asked what kind of an idiot would walk over a dog 2 times after getting bit the first time? Lol I can't tollerate hunting with guys like that. Typical UKC newbies that don't have a clue.

I think UKC's only position on this is that state law must be followed. There is no UKC rule to apply and no, you cannot scratch a dog for biting a human. However in Indiana, the law requires the dog to be immediately confined and remain confined for 14 days which would effectively scratch the dog. In Indiana, any dog bite that breaks skin requires a police report. That is the law. So if a dog bites me and breaks skin, that would be your choice. Take your dog to he truck right now or deal with the police after the hunt.
And no, I have never seen it happen in a hunt.

That is prolly true but once they bite a human, I doubt anyone much cares anymore if they will or will not bite a dog.

You've never backed up shining a tree more than 15 yards??? Never backed up and ended up near a dog tied off???

Another situation where a little common sense goes a long way. You get 2 or 3 HARD treedogs on a tree togeather its pretty easy to get grabbed reachin in to handle one, and it doesnt mean any of them are mean or fighters. Imagine if UKC. made this a scratchable offense how often it would be abused?

You are right John have seen dogs grab at people as they go into tie. don't think dog is mean just wound up tight, plus i'm always careful around another mans dog if i don't know the dog. But to let one bite me twice thats nuts! Bite me once shame on you bite me twice shame on me LOL

Chuck I have yet to see you ever post anything with any thought behind it. How does one go about having a man made mean dog?

No I never ever walk in front of any dog that's tied. Doesn't take much common sense to realize a tied dog can only go a few feet. If you can't avoid getting within that few feet you deserve to get bit lol

I saw it happen just like that once. An old man was walking backwards shining and got bit by a dog that was tied way back, once is one thing, but twice is another. Regardless there is a heck of a difference between being bitten by a dog handling it at the tree, and one that will do it after it has been handled and tied back.

I wouldn't own a dog that will bite a person for any reason, at any time. It would be getting a lead pill if I owned the pos!
