You can fish off the pier at Ft.Morgan for paying a dollar for parking..or You can buy a weekly Pass at Gulf Shores Pier, that would probably be Your best bet..Lots of Fish caught off that pier..

We go to Gulf Shores every year for vacation (for the fishing)

I usually start off at the pier day 1 and then take a charter.

Most years I can catch more fish off the pier (Spanish & King Mackeral), but also have good luck with the charters.

I would recomend hitting the Gulf Shores pier and going after some mackeral. Both speciesa are fun to catch and provide great eating.

I usually take 2 rods. One for King and one for Spanish.

Get there about 1 hour before daylight and fish for King's. If the king arent biting begin fishing for Spanish with a Bubble Rig or Gatcha plug. When the kings come back switch to your king rig.

Usually by 10:00am you can fill your cooler with a King and 8-12 nice Spanish.

Good luck and let us all know how you do. I'll be down there the week of August 21st. When you going down?

Spanish Mackerel----Any bass fishing baitcaster or spinning rod you would use in freshwater. Use a Bubble Rig or a Gotcha Plug. Jig the Gotcha Plug as fast as you can and real the bubble rig in medium speed with some jigging action.

King Mackerel--- Requires a nice stout pole that can hold 200 - 300 yards of 17-25lb test. Buy a King rig at the bait shop and tie onto end of your line. Catch you a nice lively El-Y or cigar minnor. Chuck him out there to freely swim around and hold on. You can also buy frozen cigar minnows from a bait shop and use those with great sucess. I try to stay away from the cigar minnows the pier sells because they don't seem to be as fresh and are often soft.

Hope this helps!!!!!

Justin
