Att: Allen, Richard or Todd

There have been several discussions on here regarding semen breeding from dogs dead prior to DNA testing being available. Since the dogs weren't tested and there is no DNA on record that positively came from these dogs, how can they be eligible for the performance program as studs? If I remember correctly there was no testing done on dogs prior to 1992. Your input would be very much appreciated.

I'm not sure that Todd or myself are the most qualified to respond. But know that we have discussed this with those who are and asked them to respond. Be on the lookout for it shortly. Thanks.

DNA authenticity

I wish I could tell you the answer you want to hear but unfortunately, I can not. Every litter we register is based on the honor system. We can only move forward from here but it sure would have been nice to know then what we know now.

DOES THAT MEAN THAT BECAUSE HE SAID IT IS SO YOU WILL REGISTER THE LITTER AND PERFORMANCE THE PUPS.....

Why not make people single register hounds that supposedly came out of a long dead hound. Then it wouldn't matter what they really came out of. They would have to meet the breed requirements and tree a coon. I guess they could say anything collected before DNA was availible has to be single registered. Then the semen had to be DNA by a UKC accepted company.

What you all seem to be missing is that every dog profiled is done so under the honor system. There is no one standing there watching when we swab those dogs. We can swab any dog and say this is Sizemores Super Stud even if it is actually Coomers Super Dud. Who's gonna know?

UKC is just a registry , they keep records for us ... they don't advertise or offer any kind of service that guarantees accuracy of those records .... who would ?


We all gotta follow our gut and do our due diligence on this type of stuff .... if those two don't give you comfort , don't be cutting your eyes at UKC to ease the pain of stretching your wallet further than normal for some popsicle pups , you can get just as much stress and heartache from normal ones ...

WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND IS HOW A DOG CAN DIE IN THE EARLY 80s AND SOMEONE COLLECTED DNA ON THEM NOT KNOWING THAT WAS GOING TO BE THING FOR UKC IN THE 90s...DONT AD UP.....

Who are we to say the man was not ahead of times.All ideas and plans start ahead of there times.The DNA can be cross matched off the other dogs off him even later litters.The question I have is to everyone concerned in the mans business, What if every thing works out are they going to man up and say he was right and they were wrong?

Does it really matter ?
Anyone that gets a really good pup/dog is happy. A dud not so much.
If that pup reproduces they're even happier.
Any dog in the Performance program had to pay the fees involved to get there and be eligible to win anything back so after that they have to be good enough to win or else they just gave money to the ones that can win like everybody else did.

Why? Because not everyone pays into the PRP fund. Anyone with a UKC registered dog can win and accumulate points, but you don't collect the rewards unless you paid in with your nomination fees. But how is UKC to know which dogs paid in and which dogs didn't pay in? DNA. That's how. So yes, it does matter.
