Caliber 26/18 dog food
Anybody feeding it....i just bought 10 backs of it & the ingredients are bout exactly like Hi Standard...ive feed bout 4 bags so far & my mnt Cur seems to be getting very hot when hunting...just wondering if anyone else feeds & what results they are having...thx Rick
I understand what you're talking about. I've never used the feed you're using, but if i feed a dog food that's high in protein and fat in the summer, my dogs get overly hot too. I've argued with friends over the years about this. They say they feed the same feed year round, but feed less during the hot months. I've had better luck by going to a feed that has less protein and fat in the hot months. Seems like to me that the dogs don't get near as hot. They may drop alittle weight, but seem to handle the heat better. I use something that's like 22 and 12.
Yea pal I think lowering both would be a good idea...I mean who really hunts hard in the hot summer nights....
An estimated 53% carbs. in this below average feed.
Recken that might be y!
Where did you get the feed and what is it going for a bag?
I get it in Fredricktown Mo, paid $21.99...50 lb bag...not a bad price....I coon hunt & have squirrel dogs...my walker seems fine but my Cur male just gets hot fast but he does go pretty hard & I'm kinda new to the Omcba world & guess hound & Cur makeup is very different....
Ever use that feed from mexico Mo?
Yea I did Larry & lots of people round do use it but it didnt work for me...Jim is a super nice guy also...wish the dogs did like it cause it's real nice priced....
I bought some and the hounds didnt like it so i added a bit of brewers yeast and garlic powder. with a bit of melted lard And the hounds love it and it keeps them slick and good looking
the Calibre Sport 24/20 is good feed. I fed it for several years. Never had any issues with it.
That's cool heckler,I do like the feed & wish it were a lil closer to me...I was just thinking I may need to lower the protein/fat content in the summer months....

Oh Larry I don't know that...I do know the owner of pzazz & Hunters Blend (Mexico food) were brothers & their food were very similar...but pzazz owner is passed now...
