are city coons easier to tree?

My friends from the wildlife removal services have been bringing me a bunch of coon from downtown Nashville and I decided to turn all the city coon loose in the same spot just to see if they would be any easier to tree than my wild coon.I've only dropped a little over a dozen coon in there over a months time and without a doubt the coon in that particular spot go up quick and set out on a bare limb and stare at my light.I wonder if they will reproduce coon that are easier to tree or is this just coincedental?

city coons.

Well I'm inclined to think that they will not reproduce easy treers. Coons running and climbing and hiding is a survival instinct that the city coons don't need as much. Of course I am probably wrong lol.

I live in Baltimore, Maryland and I hunt city coons (we call them dumpster coons lol) and country coons. Once you have ran in a city area they can be harder to get treed. The one BIG difference I see is that city coons move around a lot more. I can always strike a track.

Oh the part about them looking at your light is because they are used to city street lights, cars, trucks, buildings, etc... They are also used to a lot of noise.

Thanks for the input I appreciate your opinion and you may be right I doubt if my experiment will have any accurate results but I will have fun playing with it call me in about 6 yrs and I will let you know if I've been able to breed me up some easy ones.

You couldn`t be more wrong sir! I bet you also think them big coon up north don`t run either. Now tell me, have you ever hunted them big northern coon? I have, and some of them run like deer, or at least that`s what I thought my straight cooner was running, until he rolled up on the wood, and no, he didn`t break off and tree a coon. Now, I will agree, our coon are pretty easy to tree, because we got a ton of em, and plenty of corn, too!

I`ll tell you another thing, they`re splattered all over the road here right now! Bigguns, littleuns, and everything in between. My mother in law had 5 kittens and their momma come out of her shed the other day. When I talk big northern coon, I`m talking about Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, New York etc, etc,. THey are fun to hunt, but don`t be fooled about how some of them run.
They are also rough on a dog, too!

I loved your "line about follerin' that far'. I am not saying anything about how the coons run up there but no matter where I go, I find that the length of the race is directly proportional to the amount of heat you are putting on a critter. I am well aware that coons in some areas will run longer and harder than other areas. I especially have great races where there are no trees. The coon have to take to the ground or stand and fight.
I was hunting with a young man, last summer down in South Texas. My dogs were working a cold track about 9:00 AM and his dogs were slick treed in some wild grapevines. While he was trying to get his dogs off the vnes, mine had worked 500 yards down a dry creek and were beginning to warm up the track. In a few minutes, I heard the dogs jump and the race was on. He asked what my dogs were doing and I told him "exactly what they are supposed to do and that is get that coon jumped and running". He thought that the dogs had switched to a hog or something as he had never heard hounds run that fast on a coon track.
