acha world champion ukc gr nt ch tenn bawling barney
Some of yaul may have hunted with this dog, he won the acha world hunt years ago, he passed away a couple months ago, i just figured it aught to be posted on here where people that knew of him could find out if they hadn't already known of his passing.
the dog with the man behind him is barny's grand father, the dog that looks like a ghost is barney's father, and the dog on the wood is barney... All good hounds that have passed on

yes,, mr terrell told me that timothy ball drove down to texas to try a hound name sport he brought a gyp name balls candy with him they dropped sport and candy several drops in a row and ole sport would be struck and treed before candy could get opened, mr ball asked them if he could drop her by herself to make sure something hadn happened to her cause she was best hound he could find, they dropped her she got in there got struck and treed pretty easily and had a coon so they was askin i think 7500 at that time for him so mr ball came home called james merchant told him he knew where dog that could win the world hunt was at so they loaded up and went back and thats where merchants bawling barney came from and they bred the candy gyp to him and got balls hickory nut harry
no problem les, sorry I got his liniage messed up... can't keep the story strait. lol

Awesome pic./poster Les. I think alot of the 2 nieces out of Barney I have here at the house. I have bred one of them once so far and 4 of the pups out of a litter of 7 are treeing coon and smokin a track at 1 year old without any problem. Here is a little story to what led me to get some of this stock of hound- I penned a HARD CORE Black & Tan man down on the way to Indiana to the Super Stakes about 4 years ago & asked him without a doubt, with no favoritism to any breed, what is by far the best dog you have ever walked behind - he never hesitated for a minute and said it would have to be Leslie Condra's Barney dog. And then later up the road he said don't you ever ask me in front of knowone either because I want be truthful, lol. That was all I needed to know coming from him. Again great picture Les.

thanks for the ad history nut, my uncle in law wiley shrum bred a female to ole barney years ago and kept breedin that stock and my father in law also bred and raised them and i got a pup from them and thats how barney came along startin with the breed wiley made we have made six generations of these hounds,,what i enjoy most about them is even on a bad night they will do all they can to tree u a coon,, when barney treed a tree that u didnt see a coon it wasnt like the hounds u hunt with today and he had just slick treed cause he couldn move a bad track or just give up he actually thought it was there which this very very rarely happen,, they are very grity with no back up in em and are great track hounds,, his worst fault was he was terrified of lightning if it lightnin while u was huntin he would not get out of box and if he was near a barn while he was out he would try to find shelter,, ahhh i just blowin my own flute but i can,, i miss my old dog he was my best friend we were a partnership he wouldn hunt for anyone but me didnt want no one to get em out of kennel but me and when i was gone out of town he wouldn eat till i got back,, he wasnt perfect but was to me i miss em bad!

Mr Condra,
I drew Barney the opening night of the 2008 ACHA World Hunt and you won the cast. You were ahead in the closing minutes and Barney treed a mile deep behind us. The judge who was a very close second immediately put the stationary on Barney. I remember standing there listening to Barney tree and you said "do you think I'm afraid the tree him? Barney is a coon dog, Tree him!"
I went back with you and the judge to Barney's tree, your girlfriend took a dive in the swamp and I gave her a light and the rest of the cast went back to the truck. Barney had the coon.
I also was MOH on the Final Cast and I don't know if you will remember me trying to talk you out of calling it a night and settling for 1St Place in the sudden death overtime. It was a chilly night, about 5am with a light breeze and it started to shower and everybody was cold and the dogs where cold trailing in different areas and my heart sank when it was called. Barney treed about 10 minutes later and when you got to him he had the coon.
Barney was a very impressive hound and I remember him and you very well. You never forget hounds like that!

hey mr harris i also remember the cast with u i had good hunt the whole hunt u guys put on a good hunt, that weekend,, my favorite memory of the whole hunt was when u and us went out on the final two dogs we went fight back to a drop that i had just came out of that same night scorin four singles to myself,, well when the last two dogs went back we made a circle tree first drop then around like u said 4 to 5 in mornin we cast and barney blew in there and other dog layed down in pasture we were in he was wore out which i was too but he gave me 100% like i said he was my best friend,, oh yeah harry i remember that tree u were talkin of i remember he was treed across some water look like a lke but was only knee deep all way to him,,
Sorry to hear about Barney I knew Leslie Condra and owned one of his old females a few years ago Nellie Me and Jordan Maynard,I dont know if leslie will remember it but me jordan, and keith husband drove up with u and hunted barney 1 night and 1 heck of a storm blew in and you were so mad cause you couldnt get barney to hunt... I remember drawing out with u and barney later on down the rode and he put a spankin on me the next time i seen em I was praying for some lightinging!!!!!
yeah i remember him not huntin for me down there, i remember all the times he done that which was just a few the one that really mattered i was in selmer tn at pro hunt i drew leon childers gunsmoke dog, jerry gilbert and please, and a dog that had just won the super stake i cannot remember his name but was handled by the man that handled ole bigun i cannot remember his name either, anyway, we were guided by mike fergueson, we casted across a field and gunsmoke and ss winnin hound opened and flew the coop, we were listenein to them barney fell treed we get to him he has a coon i recast him please had started openin by then and barney got treed again we went to him he had em again, i casted to please and they got treed together and had em, well gunsmoke and other hound finally got treed just nearly out of hearin i figured hunt be up by time we made it but after we scored that tree we had about thirty minutes well we moved and when we got there it was lightnin and about to rain and i had scored three coons and please had scored a coon and others was circled up, we casted about two or three minutes here come barney and please, of course we got scratched for non huntin and left the circled dogs to finish the hunt, its aggravating but part of it,, i dont why he started bein afraid of lightnin when he was young dog it didnt bother matter of fact i won rqe once with em in bad storm he got treed on coon was only coon seen in hunt,, but when he got older he was scared to death of it i have concrete kennels with metal roof i figured it must have hit at one time or another
Les he couldve been scared of storms all he wanted here at my house!!!! I'd went down and spent the night with em every night it stormed!! If he was my hound I know I miss Ike and Slammer and believe it or not after 3 yrs of em being gone it doesnt get any easier you get more and more disappointed when you try to fill their shoes!!!!!!
yeah i have been tryin to get something raised or trained that would please me but all i been endin up with is scatterbrain run and run or tree and tree have got some that would tree a coon but far cry from coondog,,i got a coondog that is borrrowed to hunt and help hunt pups with for while but heck hes seven hes a nance bred dog
Does anyone know of a female out of barney somewhere that may be bought or leased for breeding, Ruben foster bred a harry female to em and a guy bred a rank female to em, I'd really like to get a female off these two females if possible....thanks
