relocating to Northern Illinois

The company that I work for will be relocating me to Northern Il. I believe that this is a wonderful move for my coon hunting. From what I hear, there are alot more coon in Il than in Georgia. Any feed back is appreciated.

Wish I could help but don't know that area very well...matter of fact most Northern Illinois folks stay away from Chicago LOL

I'm up in the NW part of the state where Illinois - Iowa - Wisc come together and yes the coon hunting here is as good as it gets anywhere is the good ole USA !!!!!!!

Cook county is a strange place to live, goofy rules and laws and Mayor Daley rules Chicago like Hitler did Nazi Germany and he is almost........almost as nutty as Hitler.

Good luck on your move and the NorthWestern Illinois CHA is about 2 hours NW from the Windy City so feel free to check us out. I know some coon hunters that live in Huntley which is west of Chicago and I think the Grand Ridge CC is SW of the city but don't know how far that would be.

Feel free to give me a call when you get settled

Elwood is in Will County, about 5 miles south of Joliet... should be some decent hunting in that general area... sure some hunters up that way who can help...

Thanks for the comments.

Mark, I will check out the Northwestern Il. CHA. I appreciate your willingness to help.

I am not happy about being so close to Chicago, but I won't spend much time in the City.

It will be great to hear from anyone that knows the area.

South of Chi.

I worked out of the carpenters local 272 for a couple years in Chicago Heights, I used to go down south of Beecher to the Kankakee River bottom area, down east of Momence, by the Indiana border. Get yourself a Indiana licsense as well, alot of state ground just over the border, alot of water, but all in all, good hunting & fishing.

I just looked up Elwood, if you go South & East for about 20 - 30 minutes you'll see all kinds of places, alot of state & public hunting land also, all in all, there are worse places to be sent.

Yes, I think the move north will be great for me. It's to hot in south Georgia to hunt year around.

Great to hear that I will most likely be able to find some good places to hunt.

Sounds like alot of great people also.

Thank you,

Keep it coming!!

North

There is good hunting all over the north. Big coons and alot of them the only thing is the winter it is cold. I am from Mississippi and been up here for 6 years now and it is hard to get use to. Good luck and if you find your way over to cent. In. give me a call and we will tree some coons.

Sheepster, We do have a fair amount of coon down here.
Mostly on the marsh and in the city digging in the trash cans,
Or in the most awful swamps you have ever dreamed of.

I really injoy hunting for 3 months here Dec, Jan, Feb. For the most part all the other months are to hot for me. I like colder weather.

I don't have any dogs worth a mess, Hmmm, that may be the problem.

Mr. Cooper,

Sounds interesting, we may have to consider this location. I know I want to live in a ural area, I am not a city boy!!!

Thanks for your help. I look forward to meeting you.

I will have to come up and look around in the next month or so.
I will let you know when that will be.
