Just curious...no real reason just seeing how many "city slickers" have coondogs.

I guess it just depends what you consider in town or country. I have lived in missouri and western NY and both were RURAL. Now I live about 45 minutes from Pittsburgh. Althought it ins't in the city, it sure isn't what I would consider rural. Boy I miss those places!!!!!!!!!!

I would by no means whatsoever consider myself or my wife a "city slicker". Me as well as my wife have never in our lives lived inside the city limits (she 12 mile from and me 16 miles from city limits) until we got married. The house we live in now, and the whole subdivision for that matter, used to be considered the county until they rezoned several years ago and now we are city limits. As a matter of fact, my backyard and the field it borders, that property line is the city limits. In fact the houses on both side of the road in the subdivision are now in city limits and everyones backyard is the city limits line. If there is a cluster of houses around here close to the city limits they will eventually rezone to get more tax money for the city, county gets theres anyway city AND county. Right no there is approximately 25 houses in the subdivision and there are 3 labs, 2 pomeranians(sp), 4 poodles, 1 great dane, 9 mixed mutts, 2 coonhounds (mine), and 17 beagles (2 are mine and the rest belong to one man) and they are ALL (everyones dogs) VERY well behaved in the kennels at night. We are far enough from actual "town" we enjoy peace and quiet (subdiv. is dead end road so no constant thru traffic) but close enough for a quick trip to the grocery or whatever.

waaaay out of town............

about 5 miles outside of a small dot on a highway map!LOL

I grew up in the country, but since I work in telecommunications, and most of the work is in cities, I have to live fairly close to the city. I comprimised by choosing a town that is not too big, but I still live in a subdivision and don't have a lot of room. The neighbors really don't like hounds that bark, so it is very important to teach them to be quiet. But I am not a city slicker by any means, I miss that country living.

Small town Guy myself

Live on about 6 acres that are excluded from the City. It's a wonder, but I don't hear complaints about the dogs.

I live 30 minutes from a town of any size, though there is a small community where my sons go to school about 8 miles from me.

I am privileged to be able to raise pups running loose.

i live 16 miles from a small town and about 5 miles from a trout fishing park. even though i live in the country i still can't let a dog run loose or it will be run over in the highway. i would like to live back on a dead end dirt road with no neighbors.

I live in the city limits of a small town. I grew up way out in the country and can't wait to get back out there. I have 5 hounds kenneled up in the back yard, and I'm surrounded by "upper class" sort of people. But I havn't had a complaint yet (knock on wood). I'm definitely not a city slicker.

city slicker...

born and raised, hialeah, fla. i live in town now..have my hounds within six feet of neighbors..NO PROBLEMS! i've had 3 adults and litter of 8 puppies here..never a problem. my neighbors are wonderful towards the hounds. doesn't matter to me if i ever go to the country! lol! as long as i have a hound, i'm happy. we do share ownership on two at a friend's farm.

we live on the outskirts of a small town , close enuff the local gas station is just around the corner yet far enuff to be consider out of city limits, i grew up in town but spent so much time at the grandparent's ranch that i prefer the country , the solitude and wide open spaces. would like to eventually get a place even farther out with more room for the dogs

I'm not a CS

But I do live in town. We bought the house before we got back into hounds. We are planning on moving soon. So if anybody wants 2 buy a 2 bedroom home in R.R. NM let me know...It has 2 nice size kennels can hold 4 dogs....

Back home we were country bunkens...so its kinda diff to have running water...LOL

technically i live in the suburbs just south east of pittsburgh. 20min drive north your in the city. 20min south your in the country. Once they build the horsetrack 5 miles from me though, its gonna ruin a lot of good woods and bring the city a lot closer

Posted by choppin axe on 12-21-2003 12:00 AM:

i live out in the country, past the city limit line> where trere a coon dog near the county line.> the coon starts jumping every night when the sun goes down..

I have actually lived in the country all my life, but the city limit, is fast aproaching.... Gary Woods
