we have a daughter up here in wis.outof sackett jr. grandaughter

she is a big, strong, loud ,deep colored, easy handling, foam mouthed tree dog. she never got hunted up here ,she got bounced around between homes but this past year finally got in the with me and she isnt a bad dog for her limited hunting time having started at an older age. we bred her to our deanwood drifter son and are pleased with that cross and last we bred her to that males son amd those are 6 months and showing good if someone would be interested i might be willing to sell (i still have tooooo many dogsand we have her blood in our young males), i dont know about my partner though.

My partner and friend in Beaver Creek Kennels, Chris Rogers has strong ties back to Minnesota Bad Sally, and since Grider is off her, that is about as close as we will get.

Chris and Benny Northam owned Sally toward the end of her life. At 10 years old she could drive a track faster than just about anything around, and would hold pressure regardless.

Sally was bred to Tar Heel Nitro once and only had one pup. He was a loud hard treeing pup.

Then she was bred to Goose Creek Jeff with no results, and finally to Roger's Rock River Simon Sez.

Shortly after the breeding she hemmoraged and died.

If anyone could point us to a nice female off Salley or Grider it would be appreciated.

Thanks

Russell Boyette & Chris Rogers

I've hunted with Grider quite a bit. He has a good mouth, is the right kind of hunter with dogs, has a coon when he trees, and as good a treedog as you'll hear. He keeps his feet on the tree in one spot, and stands on the tree like a stick. He's not my kind of hunting dog by himself. I do know where a pup out of him is that isn't a year old yet, that'll go hunting though.

I own a 5 yr. old male out of Grider. Sam's best abilities are that he can really drive a track and is a very hard tree dog. I dont know how big grider is but sam is a large dog.

her offspring came out with her size and loud mouth, and yes pretty good track speed

a few years late....

I'm a bunch of years late adding my input to this post but Grider was the best I ever owned or ever will own. I hunted him hard and did advertise him at stud. I still say he was hunted as hard as any son of Sackett Jr back in the day when Sackett Jr offspring were the hottest things going.
I was going thru a divorce, raising both of my kids by myself and working 7 days a week. I offered Grider to my friend Chad Hicks who had already qualified him for the world hunt that year. Chad wasn't in a position to buy him so I offered him to Lloyd Payne. Not long after I sold him to Lloyd I called and asked if I could come take a hunt some night. Lloyd simply said Grider was dead. No other details were given and I didn't dig for details.
Grider was born at Curt Ratliff's house and Curt named him after Mr Grider who owned Boone Creek Mike. Curt told me he threw in the Boone Creek part after Mike Boone who owned Sally at the time.
I had many pups out of Sally and was silent partner on owning her at one time. Babe's Stylish Banjo, Nocturnal Nailor, Sackett Jr were sires of Sally pups I owned. She had a litter by Pop's Sackett's Image. One pup by Tar Heel Nitro and others mentioned in earlier posts.
I've got all my old ads and pics of Grider on my walls til today. I have very few regrets when it comes to dogs but selling Grider is the biggest regret I'll ever have when it comes to hounds...
Mike Stephens - an old has been ...
