People accuse me of being color blind. The truth is I will hunt red ones, blue ones, black and white ones, yellow ones, black and tan ones, or even brindle ones; Just as long as they are English!

JIMMY MARTIN OLE PETE AND TURBO

Ole Pete was a half walker half black and tan cross never hunted with Pete but I did have the pleasure of hunting with Martin and Turbo and a Bluetick call Tom T. Turbo was a good hound a grade Redtick with Redman papers on him bought from a man from Jackson County Kentucky. However Turbo was a coondog second to none in the country. We hunted these hills of Ky. a few times and in Western Kentucky at Land Between The Lakes. Martin had a lead on a Bluetick back in the early 90's and at the time I was looking for a hound. He sent me to a man down next to Memphis Tenn can't recall this man's name but off I went to Brownsville to try this hound. We had went by Martin's home in Nashville to visit him on our vacation when Jimmy told me of this dog needless to say I was not prepared as to what was about to come about on this night the dog was tried. I had no light with me and when I met this man he and his son came to the motel picked me up and off we went. I did not know that only one light was among us. We turned that little Bluetick into the bottoms of some river and off into the darkness he went and wasn't long he struck a coon he drove that coon deep into those bottoms soon to come treed Off we go and man that bottom was wet and muddy and hard to walk in.......we get to the first tree and he has a coon but he was treeing digging at the roots of that tree. The little dog treed 4 coon that night but I couldn't handle that digging at the roots tree style and did not buy him. Well before the night was gone that light went out we had to burn clothes ( cave man style ) to make light to get back from the last tree. Martin was hoot to be around he like to drink a lot and was a pain most of the time, but had a good heart and was good to people in his own way

craig morgan

album title: my kind of livin'

song: i`m country

There's a plasic stretched across a broken window pane.
You gotta dodge the pots an' pans on the floor when it rains.
There's a ten-point buck on my livin' room wall:
A squirrel and two ducks are hangin' in the hall.
That hole in my yard is a barbecue pit:
A couple times a year, we'll throw a hog in it.
There's a four-wheel drive parked in my driveway:
I'm a proud and active member of the NRA.

Hey, I'm country: I was born and raised in it.
I'm country, that's my kind of livin'.
White beans, collar greens, sweet tea, chicken and dumplin's.
Well, I get up every mornin' when the rooster crows:
I stay out some nights until the cows come home.
I'm dog-runnin', deer-huntin', fish-catchin', cow-tippin',
Hay-balin', pea-pickin' country.

Well, there's my Mama in the rockin' chair by my screen door:
The red, white, and blue hangs off of my front porch.
There's my darlin' in the garden pickin' black eyed peas:
Kids are bouncin' up and down on the trampoline.
My truck cost less than my champion 'coon dog:
My neck is painted red, by the Grace of God.
My kids say: "Please, Sir, Thank you and Ma'am."
I ain't what I ain't, but I am what I am.

Hey, I'm country: I was born and raised in it.
I'm country, that's my kind of livin'.
White beans, collar greens, sweet tea, chicken and dumplin's.

I stay out some nights until the cows come home.
I'm dog-runnin', deer-huntin', fish-catchin', cow-tippin',
Hay-balin', pea-pickin' country.

Yeah, I get up every mornin' when the rooster crows:
I stay out some nights until the cows come home.
I'm dog-runnin', deer-huntin', fish-catchin', cow-tippin',
Hay-balin', pea-pickin' country.

Yeah, I'm a-dog runnin', deer huntin', fish catchin', cow tippin',
Corn-pickin', cider-sippin', fight-startin', kid-raisin',
Wife-lovin', gun-totin', hay-balin', pea-pickin' country.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.

Yeah, I guarantee you, I'm country.
I ain't scared to be country neither.

That is one long song more like a short story. Have any of you noticed how the country singers of today have no tune they shout and have no tune in their songs . Its lucky we still have Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, George Strait around and really lucky that old George can still sing with the best of them. The music in the new country is so load that it over rides the voice of the singers which in a lot of cases we are better off
