Question??????

Has anyone have ever seen a kitten coon the size of your hand this time of year. A couple of guys i hunt with caught one a couple a nights ago. I told him i have never seen one that small this time of year, I have only been coonhunting 15 years, a guy i know thats a lot older than me said he has never seen one that young this time of year, and he's been hunting all his life. just thought i would ask.

i see them all the time..saturday night treed a sow and 4 kittens the one we droped might have weighed 3 or 4 pounds....ive always heard that they breed at a certain time but i myself think they are just like dogs it depends on when they were born as to when they will start coming in heat and the rest is just nature. and ive been hunting for20 years

Two years ago we shot a coon out in the middle of September. It was a sow and she was about to have kittens.

Wild dog

most wild animals breeding habbits ar influenced by two things, Availability of food and the length of daylight hours. Coons being nocturnal I don't know how this affects them but I am sure it does. I am sure there are exceptions to this rule but I dont know why.

I wonder if it being a dry year here could have anything to do with the kitten being born late. we also have been treeing alot of slicks and havent had a good hot tracks for the young hounds and have not seen hardly any coon signs around here and thats even in the swamp bottoms. this has been a strange year when it comes to coon hunting.
