good oldies

I have a male from 2 of those bloodlines.

Excellent

Sure is nice to go back thru those old books and look at those studs from yesterday and read the stories.
'83 I went looking for a stud and didn't have that book or know of it. Ended up breeding to a dual grand in PA by the name of Sosack's Blue Casey. Mostly Crowders White Oak Joe and bred like Meyers Smokey II. If I had only knew.........what was out there at the time.
Laura, nice picture of Trapper.

Hear is something interesting. The mother of the original Hammer was Sebastian's Blue Penny who was out of Vaughn's Fly (ScottXFly cross) Mountain Music Blue and Blaze were out of a different litter of the ScottXFly cross. Blue is the grandsire of Diamond Jim. All those people out there that are pro or con on Diamond Jim dogs or hammer bred dogs don't realize they came from the same stuff.

Have a good holidays!

Old Bluebooks,

I have old bluebooks going back to the very first one. I have Full Crys, American Cooners, and Bloodlines that go way, way back. Love to read the old stories, especially Mr. Beckham from Missouri. Always used initials, O.L. maby, can't remember. I look at those books and wish that I had ordered pups, or used this stud , or that stud. As they say, hind sight is always 20/20. There are probablly hounds being offered today, that one day we'll look back and think the same thing. I forgot to mention that 1981 was the year old Smokey River Blue Diamond Jim died.

First started hunting in 1980

Remember those dogs well ! had some dogs out of Bramletts Blue Blitzen . also an old dog out of warsons trapper there never was a finer pup starter than her she trailed with her nose on the ground never realy run the pups would run ahead and if they messed up the old girl just come on behind and showed the way!

last i heard...

he was in ohio..but don't know if he has any blue hounds. sorry..maybe someone reading here can be of help. shelton was sure a nice gentlemen to be around and hunt with. note: boomer was no small blue male himself..he had a larger head and longer ears as well as being all-blue (no tan trim) in color.

Shelton Morris

He lived around Lake Milton and Diamond Ohio... I have a gyp here I'm hunting for a friend that has Boomer stuff back in her 4 or 5 Gen. back.. She is all blue, no tan... Nice coondog.. Nothing fancy or high powered, just a nice dog.. Haven't seen Dave Darby in a long time... Been to his place, he has a nice kennel set up.He had foxhounds also... Think I'll go back out to the shed and pull out another old book and reminice some more..........

boomer hounds

My line of hounds goes back to a hound called Lawson's Oklahoma Jumbo. A littermate to S.R. Blue Rambler and Morris's Blue River Mike. I believe Boomer was out of Mike. My pup was out of Warren's S.R. Blue Trudy. I bought him at 6 weeks old from JoAnn because Warren was gone. The story I got from them was Warren wanted to buy Jumbo but couldn't get him bought so he had to do the next best thing and breed to him. This is where I started and am still very close in this old linage today. My original brood female was Lee brothers and Smokey River. LeeS Blue Bugle Ann and S.R blue Rambler. The pups were always straight , good mouths, and could train themselves. Am a very spoiled coonhunter and very serious about keeping this old linage going. Need some help though. If you guys out there want to help me keep these naturally straight, early starters, that have voices and look like hound going, tree accurately and stay till you get there, give me an email.
