How old is too old

I want to throw this question up for some honest opinions and answers..........

How Old is too old to breed a female in your opinion ?
How old has the oldest been that you bred and did she raise the puppies OK or was it too much of a strain on her?

Pondering whether to spay my female or try and breed her one last time...........Wouldn't breed her till she would be almost 8, and I want some others who have bred old dogs, I have never bred a dog over 5 or 6 as this is when I spay them, but Queen is different, she just had a litter on May2 when she was out on a breeding lease, and I am still pondering on whether to do it or just spay her.

Have bred females upto 10 yrs old had 6 pups out of that litter all lived. Did use young male, did not have good luck when bred her to old male though.( it wasn't the male either litter from him right after mine)

I just raised a litter off a 9 year old. She will be 10 in Feb. I plan to raise another litter off of her. She is in good health and did well with the last litter.

About all you can go by on your female is what kind of health she is in when you breed her and if she had a hard time with the last litter.

Whats the oldest female you have had bred that has never been bred before. I just got one that is 6 and would like to keep hunting and enjoying her this year and possibly have her bred next year after she turns 7. She is in perfect health. what about it, too risky since she never been bred before. I had done figured that if I choose to have it done I will carry her to the vet to have her checked out and talk with him to see what he thinks, his opinion is held high with me.

I recently bred a female that was almost 7 yrs old - her 1st breeding, to a male that is 9 yrs old - his 2nd breeding. We had a litter of 9 healthy pups. The female had no difficulty whelping.

But again, every dog is different. It's good to have the dogs checked by a vet you trust.

I had a B&T female ole Queen she was 10 years old on her last litter , had 8 pups and raised all of them. She allways stayed in good shape, hardly ever lost a pup, she was 11 when she died, running coon in the swamp and got snake bit.
