Yeast Infection-Dogs ears

Does anybody know of amything that will clear up a yeast infection in dogs ear? Took her to the vet and they gave some stuff but it didn't work.
Any help would be appreciated.

Tresaderm 7.5 ml 6 drops to each ear twice daily for 3 consecutivze weeks.

We are treating our Shar-Pei's now for it, it is pretty common with this breed, haven't ever had it with my hounds.

If you don't want to go to the vet, go to Wal-Mart's pharmacy department and ask for Tree Tea Oil. It's $4.97 for a small bottle. Take a q-tip and wet with the Tree Tea Oil and swab the ear channel (after first making sure the ear is clear of dirt and wax). Do that for a few days and it'll take care of the yeast. It's all natural to boot!

yeast infection

I work for a Vet. and we tell alot of people to do this.
Vinger and Water half half to clean the ear . Wait 30 min. and put
Monstat 7 for women in the ear for 11 days. you have to clean the
ear or nothing will work for you.

vinegar and water

works ok for a mild infection. Use white vinegar or cider vinegar, not wine vinegar.
that would be tea tree oil, rather than "tree tea" : ) tea tree oil is a mild general disinfectant.
Hounds that are prone to yeast infections in their ears tend to get them repeatedly. Its partly a physiological matter of how the ear canal is shaped. Hounds that live in humid climates and ones that swim a lot are also more prone to yeast problems. Some swim dogs wear bathing caps made of old sleeves or stockings to limit problems.
Once yeast spores have been introduced to an environment, they can be very long lasting,. The best way to disinfect a kennel is a lot of bright sunshine plus a 7:1 water:bleach solution..
For preventive purposes, the purple power solution is the best I've found:
http://www.woodhavenlabs.com/ears.html
Be aware that the gentian violet stains, and the hound will shake its head with the solution in the ear, so don't do this in the living room in your Sunday best clothes!
The purple solution will cure a mild infestation, but not a severe one.
If home remedies aren't working, take the dog to a vet. Severe infections can make a hound lose its hearing.

I have a couple that shake their heads alot. I have put ear mite remedy in their ears and they still shake them. Is there anyway I can be sure what the problem is without a Vet visit?

Mike, if the dog as a yeast infection, the ear mite treatment won't take care of the problem. I personally use an ear cleaner then treat with Monistat 7.
