Hounds are a dime a dozen, but if it were possible I sure would like to go again with some of the folks that raised and trained those old Blue hounds:
Vinny Orlando
Johnny Knowles
Hoy Biscamp
Ralph Williams
Sebastion
Elbert Vaughn
Tom Broom
Bob Gathier
These are just a few that I have known over the years, some are still with us but no longer hunt and some have gone on ahead to pave the road for us just as they did in their time on earth with the ancestors of today's Blue hounds. These men along with countless others just like them were dedicated SPORTSMEN that loved a good hound but always put fellowship above the value of those hounds.

You are right, Pappy. Of the men you mentioned, I only personally know Bob Gaither. He was mighty kind to a punk kid who used to pester him about the Blue dogs...he never once made me feel like the pest I must have been.

Dual Grand Rocky Creek Dooley

Dual Grand Rocky Creek Dooley
This was my uncle's dog. I hunted with him in the early 80's but I was too young to remember a whole lot. The local people still say that he was one of the best. He was out of Bell Creek Buck which was out of Hammer IV or V, I can't remember.

Posted by elvis on 10-28-2003 02:26 AM:

ive hunted with some nice blue dogs over the years, but the one i liked the best,i guess maybe he was just my style of dog,was sparetime spanky.man he could tree coon after coon after coon and make it look effortless.

Dooley

I'd like to find an old ad with Dooley in it. Do you think Tony knows which magizines he put him in?

Posted by Chris.S on 10-28-2003 04:15 AM:

Here a few I've hunted with and would enjoy all over again

Goose Creek Tack
Russ' Treeing Blue Luke
Solid Rock

Posted by Rob Ellett on 10-28-2003 04:19 AM:

Chris S is that Wilmoths Solid Rock?

If so tell us some about him if you would!

Dooley

I think Tony still has one of the old issues with an add. I'll check this weekend.

Does anyone have a dog with Dual Grand Rocky Creek Dooley in its pedigree?

Posted by Chris.S on 10-28-2003 06:14 AM:

Yes it was Wilmot's Rock, he was BIG 75-80 lbs good looking hound. Beautiful bawl on track heavy chop on tree. Noting flashy just a very steady type hound that treed coons. Didn't seem to make many mistakes.

As good as Rock was he couldn't hold a candle to Goose Creek Tack. Tack was definetly the best blue dog and possibly the best hound of any color I every hunted with.

top 4

Of dogs mentioned

did you mention dogs that you have hunted with and would like to see go one more time,or just dogs that are gone and you would just like to have seen them go? And was your choice based on ancestors of the dogs you now own or have owned? Or perhaps your looking at making a cross and looking for the information neeeded to help your decsion?

Rob....

Most of the dogs I named I have never hunted with, but have grandpups of, or they are farther down the line than that, but I either have them in the dogs on the place, or would like to add those dogs grandpups, etc....as they have shown to be producers......I am not stuck on any one line, I would liek to know all I can about any line, as I am gonna be adding a touch of this, or a dab of that, any time I think it will help my stock I have here on the place.......
