Last Nights Hunt.....Almost ended Sad...

Went hunting with a buddy last night he had two young hounds and I had my two mutts(boone,maverick) We turned the dogs down a fence row with corn on both sides.My two and one of his take off like shot out of a gun.....We both thought we heard a dog open deep and to the left so we start walking that way.His female that didn't go with the other three opens a few times on a track as we walk dawn a lane.We get to another fence row and his female opens a couple more times close as we are listening for the other three.My two mutts come in and check her out but never say anything with her.I head them down the next fence row towards some woods.When we get to the end of the fence row I thought my hounds went to the right and he thought they went to the left.We take the left trail......His two hound finally hit a track and show us a coon.....

We head back to the truck and track my hounds..They are deep and close to a main rd and a train tracks.We jump in the trucks and try to find them.I drive past them the first time and they are tooooo close to the road and a train track for me......When we get turned around and find a place to park theres a train going past.I get out of the truck and check the tracker and it says they are on the other side of the tracks. It seemed like it took the train forever to get gone.About 15 seconds after the train was gone We could hear them treed!!!!They were treed within 20 ft of the track!!!! This was the third train we had heard go through.....They were treed on a big cedar tree which I shined a couple a mins then headed for the truck glad to get both MUTTS back alive.

Dang Dennis, Where were you hunting? I didnt think you hunted near any trains? I sure am glad you got the dogs back alive and well. Got your heart back in your chest?

Glad you have your dogs back Hobo.

Hobo, turned loose at 9:30 pm last night and didn't leave until 7am this morning. Dog I am hunting got DEEP and crossed a huge creek. I walked to the tree thinking he was on this side. But he wasn't. He had the meat though. Easiest coon I have ever found. I wish I would have had my camera. Here I am 40 foot from the dog across a HUGE creek that is about 20' deep. I call and call and call and he looks at me like I am crazy. So the only way to him is the All Night Route. To make matters worse about half way to him my light goes out. So we are out in the middle of nowhere with no light walking through the woods. Wasn't very fun. Finally got to him about the time the sun came up. Here is the kicker. If my light hadn't went out we could have walked down a trail all the way to him and wouldn't have taken us any time. But since my light was out we fought with briars and hedges all night long in the dark. We walked out the trail this morning and I got home and in the shower at 7:15 and came on into work. I AM ABOUT TO DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think that I am going to make 5pm.

LE Its one of Larry's places.Its one of those places that they only go that way once out of 1000 trips.If my two mutts wouldn't run a road/path they never would have gotten to where they did.In their defense there is a cornfield almost all the way to the rd.
