Why can't I register my dog?

Hello,

I'm a proud owner of an american pitbull terrier, but i'm having the hardest time registering her with ADBA or UKC. I have over 4 pedigrees on this dog. All the dogs in the pedigree are registered with ADBA except for 3 females that are registered with WKC. I even have over 3 pedigree's on the dogs that are registered with WKC, and their lines are shared with dogs who are ADBA, but I keep getting declined because of the WKC dogs.

I don't understand why this is happening, if i have pedigree papers on my dog for up to, and in some cases over 4 generations, then why am i being declined for these clubs?

Let me see if I can explain. You believe that by having hand written pedigrees on your dogs it is proof of registration. Think of the registration like a deed to a home. It passes from one owner to the other. Just because someone can claim they can name every owner of the home, who built it, who designed it, etc. does not make that person the rightful owner of the home.

When pups are registered the breeder is issued a title to each puppy. When he/she sells the dog, that title is given to the new owner. The title is passed each time the dog is sold. That is the proof we look for and what is acceptable. In our example above, just because one might "say" they are the owner of the home and even though they know all about that home, it does not make them the rightful owner.

When you purchase a dog, be sure you demand the Registration Certificate so this does not happen to you agai

I apologize no sarcasm intended. UKC does not recognize either of the registries you mention.
