Bowhunting in SW Iowa

Looking for a place to bowhunt in SouthWest Iowa. I will pay a fair price. Three people for one week. Probably the first or second week in November. Any information on public land is also appreciated. I will respect your property. No 4 wheelers or camping. We park at the gate and walk. I have hunted a couple of farms Ringold county with good success in the past.

Thanks,

Are you looking to kill a wall hanger only or just shoot a deer? That is the right time of year if you can stand all the crazy bird hunters. Pheasant season always opens the last saturday in October then trapping and the coon kill season the following saturday.

Got lucky enough to draw a tag. I know a lot people that haven't drawn one in years. I live in SE IA sorry I can't help ya out.

Doug,
Stop in and see me sometime. I will probably see you at Stanford this weekend. The dogs are treating me pretty good. I have been trying to hit a few hunts on the weekend and keep the dust knocked off of them during the week. I bred my Rank gyp to Jacpot last week. I have been looking forward to this cross. Hope it works.

Iowa bowhunt, I'm only interested in shooting a mature buck. It does not have to be a P&Y. I have never entered any of my deer in P&Y. I know what this area can produce and don't want to shoot a young buck. I'm looking for a three year old buck or older with a decent rack. We have killed some pretty nice deer in Ringold county Iowa and Worth county, Missouri in past years.
This is the tag I have drawn in three years. Hunted Illinois the past couple of years.

Thanks for the feedback. Any information appreciated.

Rusty

Good luck in Iowa Rusty. Did you draw a IL. tag again this year too?

IL. is out of big bucks so i'd advise all out of state hunters NOT to come to IL. anymore !

Hey Rusty, It's good to hear from you. I didn't apply for Illinois this year. I can only afford one non resident tag. I'll bet you have a couple of big bean eaters already spotted for this fall.

I would recommend Sean Clark if someone wants to bowhunt in Illinois. I have also had pretty good luck in Shawnee National Forest. (Public land, boundaries are marked very poorly in my opinion.)

Thanks for the response.

Romain,
I have hunted Ringgold county before and like it, but I'm interested in any spots located in zone 4. This consists of about 15 counties in the SW corner of the state. I will try to list them on here early next week.

I appreciate the response. Hope everybody has a great weekend.
