great rule debate
Say you tree your dog at a hunt tonight. Its hot very very hot. Cast proceeds to tree and your dog shuts up. You and the cast can clearly hear the dog chewing and whining. Should the 2 catch the dog or should the cast just proceed to the dog so long as its ovbious its not moving?

Went through the same thing last weekend and where close enough to know the dog was not moving.
The dog must bark at least once per minute until the cast arrives at the tree, once the cast arrives it can go silent, chew, or whine...but until the cast arrives a bark must be heard every two minutes.
Rule 4F (Page56)"After a dog is declared treed, at least one of the dogs declared treed must bark at least once every two minutes until cast arrives at the tree, or be minused. If no dog barks in two minutes, tree declared open."
Now - What defines "arrives at the tree". My perception/opinion is within sight by a hunters light, or perhaps the judges light. If you cannot see the dog I do not believe you have arrived at the tree.

Not much room for debate there.

I just think common sense should be applied here but then again a rule is a rule. If a dog is growling and chewing and everyone can hear it does that break the 2?

I don't need anyone to define "bark", nobody should. The rule has been quoted, just read it. It says bark. Not whine , growl or sneeze. Arff Arff.

If your walking in I assume the 5 is up and if your close enough to hear a "growl bark" then your not going to take 2 minutes to get to the tree, wouldn't common sense dictate to walk on in? If the dog is there on the tree it gets the tree, if its not it gets minused.

Just all 'round , meat gettin' hounds.
It don't matter if the 5 is up or not. Still has to bark treed or get the 2 started.
