Sad Day here at Dalton Bluetick & English Kennels

Well I haven't post on here or the UKC Message Board in a long time. But this morning I come to you with tears in my eyes and a broken heart. Preacher Petey's Blue Ice has drawn her last breath. She was nothing special, hunted her in a few hunts, mostly pleasure but she was the first dog my son ever owned. She lived a good Ole life she would have been 12 if she had made it to next month. She goes back to Ole Hardtime Speck on the English side. Ice is the reason I went under Blue Ice on the UKC Message Board. All my dogs are getting some age on them so I guess I can expect this a little more with the upcoming years or days. Wishing you all a very Blessed Day.

i just put 1 in a hole last week 11 going on 12.
got 3 more batting 10-11 yrs old thats on borrowed time also..
not used to them liveing that long ,,

used to be 9-10 yrs was tops for a pure bred dog,,must be the feed or something makeing them live so long..

put 1 in the ground a few yrs ago that was hitting 14 yrs old(ch.cruzen hawk I aka old joe) and he was treeing coon after his 13th birthday like he always did.

time flys by before you know it lately..

these dogs are like what i'd imagine an angle to be. they come to visit for a while and maybe teach us a thing or two and then leave. i lost my first dog last june. now my second dog is 11 and i see her slowing down. it breaks my heart just thinking about losing my constant companion.

Thanks so much for all the replies. It has truly been a rough day to say the least. Guess we need to get back in the woods before long StraightDrive got to get tuned up for Oaks if we plan on going. Dogs are not the ones that needs the tuning either it is us. LOL!!!!! God Bless you All because he truly has Blessed me with friends I have met in this sport of Coon Hunting.

Terry, I am sorry to hear about Blue Ice. I know how it is to loose one that is special to you. I had one that got out of the pen and got run over on the highway and I don't think I would have taken it any worse if it had been a member of the family. Try to remember the good times you had in the woods with Ice and get you a young one to take her place and keep on, that is what she would want you to do.
