post your tire wear mileage

I just calculated 86,905 miles on a set of Firestone Transforce HT tires on my 2005 2WD Silverado. My Toyota 4x4 has BF Goodrich AT, the first set lasted for 102,000 miles, and second set has around 80,000 miles.

I like Michelin , but they don't make them for my truck so I have been running Yokohama ... they are nice tires , I don't run tires til' the tread is gone and the sidewalls are broken down .... but the last set I had were nearly 80,000 miles when I changed them out and still in better shape than alot of tires I paid for back when I was burning them off as a teenager , lol .

Dang! I have never gotten more than 50,000 out of anything in my life.

Got 40k out of goodyears....whatever came stock on a ford ranger...

Could got another 10-20k out of 3...had 1 about shot..problem was at 20k or so i tore a sidewall bad...had to buy a new one...the tire shop said 1 would be fine...my tires looked new..but were worn more than they appeared to be...rotating them didnt help...crazy uneven wear..should bought 2 new ones and kept 2 decent ones...but i did t like the tire....wasnt a true AT and i run enough off road and dirt/gravel etc and snow, mud etc that i benefit from a good AT...was using 4wd much more than i should needed with them...

Got new cooper AT3s a few weeks ago...so far a great tire..crawled out of some stuff i always needed 4wd in...and i put them through the paces in the few weeks ive had them...wet roads my wranglers slipped like crazy too....these coopers do not...

I have had BFG AT on every truck I have owned. On my rangers I got between 60 & 70K. On my F-150, I'm at 50K right now but will need new tires by the end of summer. Not cheap tires but they last and can get you out of just about anything. I rotate mine every 3K when I get an oil change.

i had a dodge dakota 2003 if i remember right it had 93,000 miles on the tires and they never was rotated the first time 1 had 3 plugs in it , 1 had 2 plugs and1 had 1 plug and the last 1 was still good i was trying to get 100,000 miles out of the they was good year wranglers i would have got it out of them if i hadn't totaled it out between 2 cedar trees . i drove it all over the country like that one of the best truck and set of tires i ever owned

mileage

Michelin LTX A/T 265/75/R16 112,000+
I kept them balanced and rotated regularly. '94 Z-71 , it helped that I never had any front end suspension or alignment issues on the truck. Spent $140/ tire when I bought them, they were close to $250/ tire when I wore them out 10 years later. All types of driving conditions during that time.
Still driving the truck with a set of Bridgestone now. They seem to be doing good for me so far.

35000-45000 have to get new tires every year on my Tacoma. I have a neighbor that goes through at least 2 sets a year on his Dodge diesel. Most of his miles are gravel.

The tires on my Silverado are 10 ply tires or Load Range E, to clarify. The tires were never rotated and all highway miles. I chose the stronger tire because I pull a 16" flatbed loaded with scaffold and boards. I bought the BFG tires for my Toyota because the manager at Big 10 tires had 80,000 miles on his fullsize 4x4 Chevy. I think the reason the BFG last so long is the small trucks are lighter. I have never gotten any where close to that kind of tire life on a full size truck. I am sold on spending a little extra for the 10 ply sidewall tires.

i've never paid any attention to how many miles i get on a tire. i buy mine used. i keep watch at the used tire stand for a good pair, when i find a pair i buy them with the understanding that they'll install and balance them for free when i need them. $25.00/tire, mounted and balanced.

I had a set of Goodyear Wrangler MTR Kevlar that I had 40000 miles on when I sold them and they still had over 1/2 tread on them , good wearing tires.

Does the ply rating have anything to do with tires lasting soooo long? Like 6 ply verses 10?
