Kansas Public Land Deer

Not looking for anybody's secret spot, but a couple guys at work are looking at trying to apply for tags to public land bowhunt, and we're looking for some pointers on zones, access, etc...
Thanks in advance!

north east ks has some killer public walk in hunting i would think it would be possible to kill really nice buck on some of these spots atchison and brown countys especially

There is some southwest of Milford Lake that packs some very nice bucks or at least it used to

I would probably stay with units 6,8,9,11&14. Maybe unit 10 there is some public in the far west part of that unit. These are ones that usually get the big deer.

You have to make choice Mule deer or Whitetail. Their areas are different. Western Kansas has both, Centeral and eastern have whitetail. Most public lands are good. Check your maps and call the Fish and Game ask questions, believe it or not most are very good people.

I know these guys are planning a SE Kansas whitetail hunt. I'm sure they'd like to find some private land, but I don't think that's gonna happen.
