I have heard that some people are crossing fox hounds with walkers to add track abuility and less tree. Has anyone seen this? Any opinions?

I could see breeding for less tree if I was hunting something that can't climb a tree.

Everytime I hear guys talking about less tree, I know I'm hearing from someone that wasn't around pre-70's

Sure would. Where do you think the walkers got the specks and ticks on their legs?

I wouldn't do it. My first pup when I was 13 was a Black and Tan Coonhound. Two years before he treed . Very fast trail dog. Got to holding tree for 15 minutes by the time he was 3. I knocked a coon out and did not leash him. A pack of fox dogs got within a quarter of a mile and he put in with them, That was the last I ever heard of him. Ten years later the guy I got him from was dead and his neighbor asked about the dog. That's when he told me the dog was out his best running walker and July fox dogs he had. And he said the fellow knew it. It's a wonder I still love coon hunting. Still don't have any use for a man that lies about a dog, to a kid or adult.
