Dog ears itching

My pups ears are itching him bad. When I scratch them he wines sometimes. It almost sounds like water in them? Idk if it's mites or what? Any suggestions?

probably an ear infection. look inside, do they stink? is there black stuff in them? u can take a q-tip gently and remove the black stuff. use some ear wipes and clean them. you may have to get some meds to heal it. there are home remedies Im sure others will share. if it continues to reoccur after its healed, it could be food related and will have to change the diet.

Do this.....it works. In a 20 oz coke bottle, fill it half way with white vinegar, other with alcohol. Drill a small hole in the coke bottle cap. This will be used like a squirt bottle in which you will apply into your dogs ears. I had an old timer tell me this years ago and I've used it ever since. What ever is in there, the vinegar and alcohol mix will kill/heal it.

Also you can do a search on here. about many things that have come up over and over again. Or you can flick over to the Big Game section and there is a thread going about it right now , item #2.

Prob. yeast infection. Had 2 of mine that got it from a feed that I was feeding. I use k9 ear solutions by Liquid Health. Just poor it in their ears twice a day for about a week and cleans them right out. Also kills ear mites and fleas. Works 10 times better then the gel stuff i got from the vet.

ear dont stink = ear mites
- 1 half cc of ivermectin in a suringe and fill the rest with warm water, same dose both ears, message it in.

ear does stink = ear infection
-16 Oz. bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol (standard 70%)
4 Tablespoons of Boric Acid Powder
16 Drops of Gentian Violet Solution
Mix together in alcohol bottle and shake well. You will need to shake soulution every time you use it to disperse the boric acid.
Purchase a flexible plastic bottle with the opening at the top so that the solution may be squeezed out, the ideal bottle is a hair-dye bottle.
TREATMENT PROCEDURE:
1) Evaluate condition of ears before treating and if very inflamed and sore: do not attempt to pull hair or clean out ear at all. Just flush and then wait until inflammation has subsided, which will be about two days.
2) Shake the bottle each time before using it for treatment,.
3) Flood the ear with solution (gently squirt bottle).
4) Massage gently to the count of 60, wipe with a tissue.
5) On first treatment: flood the ear twice, wipe with a tissue, and leave alone without massage.
6) The dog will shake out the excess, which can be wiped with a tissue.
Note: the Gentian Violet does stain fabrics, etc. so you may want to wear gloves.
The SCHEDULE of treatment is as follows:
• Treat TWICE a day for the first week to two weeks, depending upon severity of ears.
• After the second or third day you can clean out the ear with a Q-tip or cotton balls
• Treat ONCE a day for the next 1-2 weeks.
• Treat ONCE a month (or even less frequently, depending on the dog).
