No, I am sad to say that I had not heard of this hero's passing. The world lost a great man.

I did know of his heroic efforts in Vietnam though and to this day it chokes me up every time I hear or read about it.

There were angels flying with him that day.

another great patriot has gone home. it is only through the men and women such as Capt. Freeman, that our country has survived over the years. Are there any such as him left for our future battles? Of course there are. Unfortunately, just like the Captain, they won't get the recognition they deserve either. It'll only be news worthy if a thug somewhere gets shot by a cop, or a drug induced death happens to an entertainer of some sort. No, the news media wouldn't see the worth in honoring a true hero. if they they did, how would they keep the controversary stirred up?

The real heros are too soon forgotten. May Captain Freeman rest in peace.

I've read the story of Capt Freeman and this Country will always owe him and those like him more "debt" than can ever be paid!
God Bless this man and what he stood for!

Capt. Freeman died several years ago. I would suggest that if you are going to honor a man, do it because of what he did. Don't do it so that you can use his story to exploit the media. In my opinion your goal is to make the media look bad, not honor the man you profess to admire. If that is all that his story is worth to you, stick to just saying "thanks" and be on your way.

I see nothing at all wrong with the man's post and certainly nothing I would say is exploiting the media. On the other hand your post is about as stupid and asinine as any I've seen on here, find somewhere else to profess your ignorance.

No intent on decieving anyong but his story does deserve our time.

I don't see any reason to delete your post. You made a tribute to a special American. So what if he died 4 years ago? Does that make him any less a hero?
Thank YOU for bringing iot to our attention!

attention

I could care less about slamming the media, the heroics of the man was all I was trying to focus on, what was printed on this post had nothing to do with the media.

You posted after the deletion of the media component. Like I said, I forgive you. I'll just sit here and be asinine and stupid.

Let it go.

Again sorry to get 1 persons panties in a wad, still not sure why they got so upset.

Because this story has been used over and over to bash various entertainers and the media for reporting whatever hip-hop, minority crap that is currently the focus of the media. Being a Veteran, this mans story means more to me than just using it to point out the current focus of the media. To use it to point out the media's transgressions is an insult to what this man stood for and what he did for his brothers in battle.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/military/freeman.asp

His story is phenominal and is worthy of singular recoginition, hence the Medal of Honor. He was given recognition in both life and death. From the Medal of Honor to the naming of a federal building after him.
