sick and tired of people lying about dogs they have for sale

I have been looking for a good started young dog for a few months now and have went and tried several out and everytime I call someone about a dog they all say it will run and tree its own coon and when I get there it either stands at my feet or boo hoo's all nite and these dogs all had price tags of 800 and up , does people think just because someone came to look at their dog it will perform great when it dont any other nite , why cant folks just be honest , it is getting old driving 2 , 3, and 4 hours to try a pot licker , AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT IS TIRED OF THIS CRAP

I dont mind paying 1500 for a good started dog but when i drive 4 hours to look at a dog and it wont hunt at all it gets old

There are 2 sides to this argument. A while back I drove 2 hours each way to meet a guy so he could try out a started dog I had for sale for 750$. Guy calls me 4 nights later and tells me the dog done good and treed coons each night out, one night treeing twice in front of a NTCH with the meat both times but he doesnt want the dog because he was looking for something to grand out in a couple months. I then had to drive 4 more hours round trip to pick up the dog.

Are there people out there who really think you can buy a dog ready to be granded out for 750$?

I ended up trading the dog for a Garmin and cash and all reports I have heard back on him is that they are very pleased with him.

Good started dog huh??? I tried out several a few yrs ago. These were older dogs. All them did the things your describing lol. Stand around, not go hunting or trail all night. Never saw any of them under a coon lol.

I saved up around $2000 to buy a good younger dog. I ran out half my money in gas and expenses to try out dogs that all "run and treed coons alone". I never had to walk to the first tree! Most never got more than 150 yards or so from us. One would try to bite you when you got close to him! One guy said he would show the dog in the woods but after a 2 1/2 hr drive he changed his mind and only wanted to sell the dog off the chain. For a couple hundred less of course! The couple that would hunt out a little ways just BOO HOOED around for an hour and came back to the truck. I am fixing to start looking again but I WILL NOT make those long drives and spend that much on gas to go look at a dog this time!

One word guys.................video.................any body can do it and if they don't know how to send it by email they can snale male you a copy for little to nothing. Then if they can fool you with the video you can drive to hunt with it.
I wouldn't buy or sell one off the chain unless it was something that just hadn't been handled much yet.

The best way to get the dog you want is to not go looking for a dog that is advertised "for sale" to start with. Go hunting with friends, friends of friends, and friends of those friends. Go hunting with everyone you can and pay attention to what goes on in the woods. When you see what you want make the guy an offer. All he can do is say yes or no. This way you know your getting what you want and you skip a WHOLE LOT Of junk.

One of the best dogs i ever owned, i got this way. The other was gave to me.

Bought a beagle 2 years ago using video sent by the man, seen the dog run and heard its mouth before we drove one mile to get it.

Well several yrs ago I lost my gpa & he is the 1 that got me n2 hunting dogs. I was 16 at this time he left me some $$ when he past away so fall got here & I was missin hunting so I took that $$ & started lookin for a good young hound I then convienced my mom to drive me to MO to get this dog I gave this man 1500 for this black&tan I had told him why I was wanting a good started dog & he said he had one for me & boy did he he took my $$ & I got a shaft. He has never anwsered my phone call again this was 11 yrs ago & I will always raise my dogs from pups to get me a good dog. That was my first and last time dealing with buyin a started dog. Need a place u can't put deal or dude on people sellin dogs

I've had the best luck with dogs that werent ever for sale until I heard about them,called and ask. Ill never buy another one on a mans word alone...Way too many feeder bucket culls out there that somehow got a couple wins put on them. The good ones are hardly ever offered for sale on here...someone's gonna buy them before they ever see this board.

Got to make one

A couple years ago myself and a good friend went several weekends trying dogs out in different states . At that time I had 4,000 saved up and might could have put a lil more to it if the right dog came along .
Needless to say but I didn't buy none of them and now I'm breaking pups. Honesty or is people that dumb on what a coondog should be !
