If there is anyway I would love to get some more lightning blood in my kennel,if there is enough keep me posted thanks and good lick this cross would def help put the cold nose and tracking ability that is lacking in most of the breed !!!!! And oh yeah when I hunted beaver lake lightning dogs and red eagle dick dogs you didn't talk percentages you expected to see coons!!!!!

toe cutter - I think you might like the grandpups out of Dick better than you would like direct from him. After seeing your clips of Mack and Boomer, direct could peel them off the tree and have them standing or setting using the same mouth running or treed. Ol' Dick didn't have any effect on the line behind Skipper, only tan color on rear changed, and might notice curve last 3 inches of tail. Good thing about tail the direction turned is normally shows which front foot to watch out for, as they do use it. There is one trait that came down from the cross, changed way they handle coons, stopped shaking , used that foot to flip the critter over so could grab chest and went straight into ground breaking bones as they went. Good Luck with your project .

the only thing that means anything to me is if they have the coon when they tree. its the main reason i have stayed with this line for so many years.

Stampers Red Eagle

My dolly female is at the Vet in Violina Arkansas waiting to be bred, as of today her level was 2.9 waiting for a level of 5, the next day or so she should be ready for the semen by surgery to be put in her, and hopefully in 63 days we will have pups.I've had several calls about pups but for now it's a waiting game, I know for sure Randy gets first pick female , This is very expensive but worth evey dime for a chance to get this bloodline so close again.Of all the dogs Randy could have used this semen on, I am thankful he chose Dolly, she is a great female that has what I like in a coon dog and Bob Harvey from Mi. trained her , I was just lucky to get her , This is all new to me because im not a pro hunter or breeder, Im a full time pastor that has to have stress relief and these coon hounds do it for me I wish all of you the best with your hounds and if I can be a help or you just want to talk dogs send me a line . Johnny( p.s, i'll keep you updated on the other as Randy stated litter of impact sorry Tom I had to do it

Dolly

Dolly was bred on Friday the 13th, with 2 units of semen,The semen reached a post thaw motility of 30 -35 % .Vet said he would prefer motility of 50% but that should be good enough to get pups, all fingers are crossed.

The ultrasound today confirmed that Dolly will have pups from Stampers Red Eagle, not sure how many but she did take , we did see at least 3 and possibly more ,still to early to know exactly how many.

THE PEOPLE THAT GET THESE PUPS WILL BE HAPPY THATS FOR SURE. GOOD LUCK WITH THEM AND GOOD LUCK RANDY KEEPING THE RED EAGLE BLOOD GOING. THANKS CARL

im still waiting for the original litter of impact to show up somewhere besides the breeding pen. like the winners circle. good luck with your breeding. your pups have a good chance to upstage the lipper litter of letdown. dick was a very tough dog in his day. look forward to seeing more about this litter in the future.

johnny i have ben watching this breeding as you have been updating and am sorry to her of the loss. I have a male and a female out of ol mack so I was hoping for the best.
I have never AI'd dogs before but have been around cows some and alot of the old time farmers used live cover to make sure the heifer handled everthing ok. I certainly am not telling you what to do and maybe you thought of it already but it might be something to try. maybe somebody with more knowledge on the subject can post about the 1st time breeding by AI and the percentage that workout.

Toe cutter sorry for your loss bud. I don't know ya but I always checked this thread because you seemed happier than a fat kid in a candy store over this breeding. Hope you get your litter of impact sooner rather than later. Good luck.

Johnny - did you use any Hydrocortozone on hotspots ? My vet told me years ago to never use Hydrocortozone on a female that was bred, said it might cause her to slip the pups .

pups

Glen, didn use anything on her in fact kept her in the house during the heat of the day, and to answer about the AI process, I know nothing but followed the law on what the vet said, to the letter, Im gonna breed Dolly this fall to a live dog and make sure there is nothing wrong with her and if she has pups then in the spring I will use the Semen on her again,I have 4 straws this time , I do know that Eagle was 10 years old when the semen was collected and the motility of it is only 30 -35% when thawed, Vet recommended 50% motility, dont know if that had anything to do with it or not, I do know that my wife was not happy with the 2000.00 dollars it cost and no pups All I know to do is try again after Im sure she can have pups. Thanks everyone for your calls and encouragement,I'll keep you posted.

Posted by Glenn Wells on 06-29-2012 03:54 AM:

Just noticed I made a mistake in the spelling, should have been HYDROCORTISONE . It is used as anti-itch cream in people and may be found in spays and ointments for dogs as treatment for itching, skin irritations and minor wounds. The vet said back then that they didn't know why, but it may make a female lose her litter while not having any effect on another, just depended on the dog.
Would say that it would be better to my way of thinking to do first litter natural way, give you a chance to see how female handles it, sort of a practice run . If she does good, then go to AI next, at least you would have an idea without the extra expense involved. Good Luck with your project.
