female with diarea what to do

i have had her at the vet he thought it was liamese acting up gave her pills for 10 days after the 10 days no change looking for answeres or sugestions thanks

buy a jug of sterile water andget a syringe and needle. put 50 cc of water under the skin. it will keep from dehydration. then after the water hump goes down keep pulling on the skin and let go to see if skin snaps back into place quickly. if skin is slow to go back to normal, it means there dehydrated. keep giving fluid under the skin until diarea stops. give alot of nutra cal paste until they start eating good again. good luck

I had a vet in Missouri who is in his eighties tell me to fry hamburger and cooked white rice together and feed it to them for two days. I've done it on two occasions and it works.

back to vet diarea won't kill her but can cause severe dehydration which can kill her may have salmonella/e-coli (e-coli usally blood in stool) back to vet and good luck

i also used burger and rice. worked good for me

Female with Diarrhea - what to do...

How long has she had this chronic diarrhea?

Has she been tested for Coccidia and Giardia ? The test for Giardia is a separate test from a regular stool check for worms.

What kind of food is she on? Sometimes, a food sensitivity will cause chronic diarrhea.

There are many causes of diarrhea. One thing that often helps the diarrhea is to feed them canned pumpkin. I would give the dry food, mixed with a cup of canned pumpkin & hot water. Make it into a slurry. You may have to feed the pumpkin for several days in order to stop the diarrhea. However - if the diarrhea is caused by parasites, or by a food sensitivity, or - if it is the result of an immune-system problem (such as irritable bowel syndrome, etc.) - the pumpkin will only be a temporary fix.

You need to find the cause of the diarrhea and FIX it !!!
Good Luck - let us know what happens, & if your vet can't figure it out, take her to a different vet !!!

ok, severe diarrhea, put gatorade or any sport drink in their water to rehydrate. rice works really well. could be the food you are feeding. had a dog have a sensitive stomach once. rice fixed it within a couple days.
as of injecting anything subcutaneous on a whim, dont.
check your feed and worm. if the vet didnt find anything , check your feed.

she is eating good and drinks lots of water i feed diamond hi energy i have fed it for 3 years never had a problem none of my other dogs have diarea. i will try anything at this point thanks for the advice keep them coming

I think Dan Dogs is right on rehydration. In the meantime, last week there was a thread on here about diatomacious Earth. Now I am not much into homeopathic cures but the DE is very similar in clay fraction to the Kaolin Clay except for the expanding lattice. You can buy a 50 pound bag of Kaolin for 5 dollars and will last through your great grandchildren or you can buy a bottle of Kaopectate over the counter for human diarghea and use that. Two tablespoons of Kaopectate down her throat every time she passes juice. First , keep her hydrated, second, stop the fluid loss, and that buys time to figure out the cause.

I keep on hand at all times Albion (antibiotic) for coccidia and I would have already started her on that . It can't hurt.

I suggested feeding the rice/hamburger mixture which will stop the problem. I'm sure most everyone has had the same problem themselves, we're not talking about a cure for cancer here, just the s****, I doubt any of you would inject water under your own skin. As far as hydration is concerned, if you keep fresh water in front of the dog she will take care of that problem herself.

If you inject fluid under the skin use lactated ringers. It has electrolites in it to help replace those that are lost. good luck
