what are they good for besides putting up a good fight? do you eat them? caught a 7 foot sturgeon once but never have caught a spoonbill.

We have them here in MS but never seen them sooo big guy's.
lots of people eat them I am not much of a fish eater though I only fish on the catch and release days we have here for them . They tag them after you catch them to try to study them. it takes them years and years to get big. that one in my picture could be 70 to a 100 years old. thats what I was told any way. I just cant see killing some thing that has been alive two to three times longer then me..... just for a little bit of nasty meat and there eggs........

they're illegal to catch here in Tx. but a buddy of mine used to go to eufala every year and he'd give me a mess or two. mighty fine eating fried up
