Sportsman's Pride 26/18 dog food

I have been feeding this for about a year. My dogs do really good on, keep weight on good and not much in the way of clean up. I feed it to my Dachshunds too, they are doing well on it also.

What I'm wondering is, does anyone else feed it and not have their females cycle normal on it? All my female dogs came into heat last july, to date, none have cycles since. I had fed Diamond 26/18 and had this problem, I then switched to Prism and dogs did very well on that, normal cycles, etc. But it got too expensive and they cut it from 50# to 40# and jacked the price up, so switched to the Sportsman's Pride, which was local, in 50# and I pay $23.50 a bag.

I have fed it for about 5 years and haven't noticed any irregular cycles in my dogs, but I don't keep but one or two females at a time. I'll pay attention to the dates they cycle a little closer.

Maybe it is just mine being their normal evil selves!

My female has been the same way you are describen I just switched her feed last week well see what happens I guess

I changed my inside dog to another food about a month ago and guess what...she came into heat last weekend. How strange, change food, into heat. Gonna do the weinies on different food, don't want to breed the coonhound, won't change her.

I don't know about coondog heats I havnt ever bred them but I do breed pitbulls and it isn't uncommon for them to cycle every 8 months if this is true for coondogs your girls will be in heat really soon without changing anything

We have had dogs that come in heat any where from every 6 months to only once a year. It just depends on the dog. I never noticed their food making any difference.

Oh, I have seen food changes bring a lot of dogs in heat. My old girl does what she wants, she is 11 yrs. old and won't be bred anymore, her daughter Tori hasn't had a quote/unquote 'normal heat' since she came in at a yr. old, the weinies were going in every 6 mos. and now not, I think it's the food.

ive never heard of that but then again i dont know alot about heat cycles. maybe thats why my gyp was acting like she was coming in then acting like she wasnt from one day to the next. i feed southern states active 26/18.
