breed id for shelters

I am doing a coonhound breed id brochure for shelters. Too many of our dogs are misidentified when they end up in shelters, which makes lost dogs harder to find.

Its easy to find good pictures of breed-typical hounds from the bench show results, but I need pictures of less typical individuals from each breed for the brochure. If you have a good picture of an atypical but purebred hound (e.g. a bluetick with no tan trim, a redbone with a lot of black or white, a tricolor English, a blue English, a non-merle leopard hound, a buckskin plott, a very dark plott, etc.) that you would be willing to let me use, please email to me at emily.plishner@verizon.net
Thank-you.

I hope your efforts help but i think in many cases they are misidentified on purpose.

Thats a nice thing your doing Emily. I recommend anyone that has a hound thats important to them to just get it micro-chipped at their vet though. Its fairly cheap and the 1st thing a shelter is gonna do is scan the dog to see if it has a ID chip inplanted.

mine are chipped, Adam.
John, some of them may do it on purpose because hounds are slow to get adopted out of shelters, but shelter work is poorly paid and thankless, and a lot of pretty ignorant people are in charge of id-ing the dogs. Most have, at most, an old akc poster for a reference guide. only b&ts show up on it.
I recently heard from a friend about a bloodhound mislabeled as an Irish Setter! At least it was a RED bloodhound!
If shelter workers have pictures of hounds to look at, the dogs at least have a chance of getting labeled correctly...
