id say the dog that came into you gets minused on strike and the 2 that stayed out they still keep there strike open

Pretty much my question is how should that have been handled we heard the dogs fighting a coon heard the coon squall judge and guide run toward dogs I follow best as I can but had no idea what we were supposed to be doing that is why I am asking
what to do in that situation
how do u score the dogs
If you keep changing the question any answere will be correct eventually....

The judge must decide if the dog quit and came in or didn't he? That is really the only question here. If he quit and came in, he is minused and it doesn't matter why he came in. That the cast may have walked into the dog doesn't matter, did he come in to the cast or not? If he didn't come in, he continues his strike right along with the other 2 dogs.

you can't score what you don't see hearing a coon fight means nothing. you have to see the dogs fighting a coon on the ground then dogs would get there strike plussed and recut.

Plus all their strike points. Coon was caught. Does the rule say they gotta catch it and kill it or hold it till you get there???

if the dogs cought a coon on the ground it would be dead or if it happen to get a chance to run it would have went up a tree or in a hole real quick. the dogs would have ether have it treed or hold up. I cant see a coon getting away from three dogs. if I was there and a coon would have got away from one of my dogs like that I would have voted to minus my dog then I would be looking for a new dog........

There's no way they score on that coon. Nobody saw it, you don't even know if it was a coon. The dogs weren't declared treed so there is nothing to score. You just judge the dog that came in, if in fact, it came in. Aside from that, just carry on.

It was our opinion the other two dogs were off somewhere playing tug of war with it

You don't have to tree your dog in order to get your plus points on strike on a caught coon. You do have to see em with it though. I was just kidding in that other post. Yall interfered with the dogs though. Heck mine might come to us if we are running through the woods wide open.

Jim, I don't think you are implying that someone has to tree a dog for the cast to score a coon caught, but it kind of looks like that in your post.
Just to clarify, nobody has to tree a dog to score a caught coon or a hole in the ground. If the cast believes that is what is going on they can go in and score immediately. If they see the caught coon then all dogs strike is plussed.
Same for a hole, if the dogs show you the hole then the strike is scored according to what is in the hole, or circle if you can't see what it is. In the case of a hole or place of refuge other than a tree IF someone treed their dog then those tree points would be eilgible for scoring as well.

IF NO GAME SEEN, IGNORE ALL DOGS, SEEN AND UNSEEN, AND START THE TIME ON THEM TO CARRY OUT THEIR STRIKE POINTS!!!

So, the dog that "came in" gets a pass?
JiM has this right, If the dog comes into the cast it gets its strike minused.....A cast should make every effort to not get in a situation where they niterfear with the dogs on trail, but somtimes things happen...bad break.
