Show Dogs?

What's it take for a dog to be one? Would love for mine to be in a show but she is hyper.

100 points and 1 Best of show with competition and points have to come from 2 different judges...

points are

Class - 10
Breed - 15
Show - 10

35 per show is the most that can be won.

Its best if they do stand still, its easier for a judge to look them over. I had a real hyper one, my first champion, I just hunted her every night before the show worked pretty good. Now I start them young and they figure it out pretty quick.

I hunted my walker for a week straight before a show and that maybe him worse. now I run him on a tread mill before the show and that seems to help course you have to get them used to other dogs.

Some lines seem to take to the training better than others but for the most part it's a lot of repetitive training and in recent years it takes more ground work training than it used to. That first impression you make when you gait in means a lot. Usually a big difference in this between a local club show and Autumn Oak's type show because of the amount of fine dogs and good trainer/handlers at the bigger ones.

Destiny,
Teaching a young dog to 'stack' (stand still, square, with head level) is a long learning process. Many, many hours of training.
Yes, you may need to get her 'attention' with a switch! But the big thing is hours of teamwork. You and your dog being together. You teaching her what to do, YOU are the MASTER.
In the last 15 years, almost every dog I have raised, (23 to date) have made Show Champion, and most have went on to make Grand Show Champions. Some have been VERY hyper. It just takes a lot of time and patients. I have one right now that is trying my patients, but she will eventually get the idea.

Like Jerry said, put in the time. It seems impossible at first but, the way i do it is 10-15 minutes a day for about 3 weeks and I think youll be on your way

let them run play get the energy out then we work.
i tell them i am not happy with them, maybe a little squeeze on the
muzzle may be a tap on what ever foot they moved.etc
in the end you will move more out than you keep.
