Great job on the cats!
bigsky I wonder if you guys get our weather after us. You're in Montana right? We had that weather yesterday, was 60's during the day and real windy most all of the day. Im ready for bears to come out! I know you guys cant legally hunt them with dogs there but does your cat season run year round?

Our lions season with dogs runs from Dec. 1 to April 14th.
We travel when we can to run bear with friends we have made throughout the years of running hounds.

I love winter but Im tired of this one, been hit and miss and Ive been too busy to hunt as much as Id like as Im sure it was for a lot of you out there.

just joking
jarred i was just joking with you i had to give you a hard.
Lol I figured but then I thought well maybe he didn't notice them, misunderstanding. I heard of a shed hunter seeing a bear where I hunt some the other day, these warm days might be starting to make em think about moving around some!

i was told by fish an wildlife that the grizzlies are out in yellowstone so load the dogs up and lets go lmmfao no seriously i did hear that i havent seen any sign yet but you will be the first to know.
Been gearing up for Bear season here, buddy caught one the other day but I think it's pretty hit and miss right now, more miss. Couple week or so I think they should be out pretty good. Got a couple good young prospects that are showing potential. One is supposedely 7 months old Redbone named Ryder who is a little fireball, only done a trainer with him but he really impressed me. Has a couple T-Top redbones in his bloodline, was curious if anyone knew much about them or Coombs and Hauers Redbones? Located in Washington State. Thanks a lot if you do, Jarred

Jarred, keep us posted on that redbone . I have a redbone from Mt. (Kevin Jackson) that does really good on bear, he has t-top and Hoffmeister breeding in his ped.
Also ,how's that "white deer preserve" plott male doing ?

He's doing really good, did good on cats this winter, didn't hunt as much as I would typically on cats because I had a lot of younger dogs I was working. He'll catch his own cat pretty easy, he's just as good as my main dog Moose. Excited to run some more bears with him and the other dogs, getting close. One of the last ones I got Savage got swatted in the face, they caught one in a cave, which must of been its den, and instead of jumping back he charged the bear and I had to reach in the hole and rip him out by his tail. That redbone seems to have the right mentality, not scared of anything and relentless in everything he does, should be exciting!

I also have a plott female with a touch of white deer preserve that I really like. She started early and I run her on coyotes all winter and bears the rest of the year.
I'd like to breed her down the road ,but being from the east ,nobody has any of that bloodline for me to cross back into it . And I hate outcrosses .
Keep the pics coming ,I enjoy looking at them .
Them are nice looking pups!!

Here's him in a cave last year on a bear. It was that one I was talking about where he got slapped and I had to pull him out:

Good video.
It sounds like Savage has a good mouth ,plus, he's well put together too.
Did you breed to him last year and if so ,did you keep any of the pups ?

He had an accidental breeding with a dog I was hunting for a guy from Utah. The guys I've talked to all seem to like them. I had too many at the time to keep one myself. Got a video of him at 3 months old on a problem bear in a culvert trap that was being relocated and him just going crazy on it. He's a lead dog, got a houndy look to him for a plott too.
