roadkill coon

The other day i seen a roadkill coon on the side of the road that i knew had been there so i picked it up it stunk a little and i wasnt sure if that would affect the true smell for a drag but i chose to do it anyway and my pup tracked it to the tree i hung it in and barked at the sight of it a bit . I was just wondering about your thoughts on a roadkill that has been along the roads a couple of days being an ok drag.

my pup still tracked it to the tree i hung it in so i teased him a bit and that got him barking a little on the tree and soon lost interest and went back to tracking so i ended it and praised him while he was on the tree.

Just cut the tail off and use that instead of hauling a whole coon home. Plenty of scent on a tail. Another idea is to take a tail rigged up on one of your fishing rods and cast it out to lay a drag line. It gets you feet out away from the drag line starting point and off to a side if you keep you pole out left or right as you pull it to lay a line. If you are real good you could flip cast it up into a tree then take your pole out a ways and tease a dog who is treeing.
