OT turkey guns

looking into getting a new gun . want something that shoots 3.5 inch shell, short ,light doesnt rattle and shoots a tight pattern.what brand of gun should I look into.

Posted by RHK on 02-25-2012 11:37 PM:

i use a camo 870 express magnum. good solid gun that i kill birds with at 50 yards consistently. wont empty your wallet either

Posted by GA DAWG on 02-26-2012 12:35 AM:

I thought you just said you wanted something light? I'll take my Benelli M2 20 ga and shoot with any 12 made. All you needs a good choke and some Nitro#7s... Its light as a feather. Killed one at 54 yards. That he was actually closer. Its a bad lil setup.

The grandson and I share a 20ga Mossberg 500.
I've taken a few at 40 yards.
Get them close enough and you don't need a gun that rips on your shoulder.

I've Got an 835 Mossberg Also.

Tru-glo sight and a Kicks Gobbling Thunder turkey choke. Any bird inside 40 yrds is done no kicking or flapping. Anchors birds out to 60 yrds.I use 3 inch federal turkey loads. Those 3 1/2 inch shells will leave a mark. I used to use them.

I AGREE! ILL PUT MY 835 UP AGAINST ANY 20-16-12 OR EVEN 10 GAUGE OUT THERE AND AT ANY RANGE YOU WANNA SHOOT THEM! AND WHEN THE SMOKE CLEARS I BET MINE HAS AS MANY OR MORE PELLETS IN THE TARGET THAN ANY OF THEM OUT THEIR!

PS. I USE THE WINCHESTER X-TREME 3-1/2 INCH 5 SHOT SHELLS.

turkey gun

i've had a few over the past 20 yrs,and i like the remington 870,and the winchester 1300,never had any luck with the mossberg 835,but we have a mossberg 500 20ga that kills out to 40 yards....put a kicks comp choke in about any shotgun, and it will be a turkey slayer!
