ot skid steer loaders

Thinking on purchasing one. So to those of you that's used them or have them what do I need to look for from an operating standpoint reliabilty,comfort,control ease etc..........? Would be wanting different attachments also post driver,bushhog,grapple fork etc.........

John Deere is what we bought priced NH and Cat also option for option John Deere was cheapest we have bucket ,forks and a backhoe attachment on ours

My older brother and me have ran heavy equipment since the 70s and owned skid steers since the 80s. we use Case 1835-45s and work em on steep hillsides around the lake ozark area.

Case have faster hydraulics, more power and will go more places than Melrose but cost more around here. Cats are way over priced and awfully awkward.

case machines, attachments cost more than melrorse but you get what ya pay for.

the operator has as much or more about it than the machine! IMO

you ought to put this to a poll..

also be SURE to go diesel over gas

Definitely diesel hands down. I agree you get what you pay for! Wanna do some fencing and cleaning up some land and maybe some outside jobs too so dependability is a must also.

I have work Asphalt Construction and we have used the Bobcat, Cat and Case. Don't care for the Bobcat due to the foot controls. Cat is a good machine but the hydralics for the drive system is very jerky and jumpy and it is hard to see out of the machine for safety. The Case is by far the overall chioce by the Company and operators. The case machines have the dependability and man they really take some severe abuse from some of the operators, but they still hold up. Case is without a doubt the way to go in my opinion. Please remember, the operator is what makes the machine work and the operator has to service and grease the machine. Make sure that the maintenance it done daily. Good Luck with your purchase. Alan

Anyone have experience with the newhollands? Was looking at an LS180 superboom here locally.

my dad is a general contractor. we have a new holland ls185 with 2 speed and closed in climate cab. it has done everything from brush hogging, post hole digging, excavating, and feeding round bales to our cattle. no complaints with it.

as far as smoothness and ease of operating nothing i've ever operated comes close to a case. we have an 1845c and it has been a bulldozer/tractor/loader. took more abuse then any machine i've seen. once it hit 2500 hrs it we started having trouble with the drive chains. thats the only problem we've had with it.

all the other skid steers i've ran just didnt have the smoothness. i cant saymuch about their reliability because we've never owned a different one.

New Holland LS 170 or is a very good skidsteer. I spend many hours in one and did nothing more than maintenance to it. There are people who have nothing but john deere tractors who own a New Holland skidsteer, I have heard of 2 different Gehl skidsteers starting on fire while sitting in shed and a barn. Lots of people have bobcats but I just dont like the feel of them.

When I started at the sand pit I work at we had a New Holland with rubber tracks and it was a tank. Company decided to get newer machine. Since then we've had a Cat, Takeuchi, and we got a Case now that doesn't run. The only reliable one was the NH. Good Luck!!!
