Echo IV

Echo IV (AKA: IKE) finished to NITECH with 2 UKC 1st, a 2nd, and an 8th (2011 Battle of the Breeds). He will be finished to grand as time allows.

Ike goes hunting the minute you unsnap him, alone or with company, and hunts fast and smart. He does not hunt a straight line away from you, but covers a lot of ground fast. He absolutely will go as deep as he has to go to get a coon treed. Ike gets hunted alone 98% of the time, is independent, and will do his own thing. He will move tracks with speed and gets treed on the outside, making very few dens. He makes very short work of most tracks, rarely having a track last more than 10-15 minutes at the most. Maybe he is picking only hotter tracks, or making all tracks look hot, but either way, we don’t really care. When he opens his mouth, he gets treed quick, and that is what we want. He comes on a tree fast and can be treed on his locate. He misses some, but not very often. Ike runs a track with a very loud clear bawl, and trees with a chop/bawl mix on tree. He is a no non-sense hound that just trees coons.

To be completely honest, Ike is not perfect every night. I have seen nights when he missed too many, didn’t move a track right, or got beat to a tree. But, I have seen far more nights when he looked like a million dollars, making other nice hounds look really silly. The key is, there are many more good nights than bad, and when he looks good, he looks better than any hound I have ever had a lead on. He continues to get better and more consistent the more he gets hunted.

We have several females bred, or lined up to be bred to Ike when they come in. We are breeding him because he is a coondog with a big motor, and has the traits we are looking for in a competition hound, as do the hounds behind him. Speed, quickness, hustle, and drive. We hope to get another one just like him.

sure would be hard to pick which litter you would want one from.

this Ike dog (which I have never seen) has more old echo and the cross that ole echo came from then you might think. echo III was off trollup which was a grdghter to ole echo and tramp was off jean who was the same cross as ole echo. you would have that cross again with the bullet II dog since his **** june was a littermate to tramp. lots of good hounds and good crosses and one of these has that same potential if it nic's right

This gyp will be bred at some point in the next year. She is not real flashy, but is the most CONSISTENT female I have ever owned. Kate made NITECH without losing a single cast to a walker dog. She is accurate, independent, and always deep and lonely with the coon. She finished to NITECH with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 7th. The 1st and 7th being at the Texas State Hunt.

I hunted with Ike one time and he impressed me. I have a pretty nice little female and he made her look like Ned the first grade reader and that’s not easy to do. Anyone that knows me knows I'm not a blue dog man but I have seen a few that I like and Ike is one of them. He sounds like a hound is supposed to and got treed quick with the coon. I wouldn’t over look this dog.
