-- I got a question about self dog feeders (http://forums.ukcdogs.com/showthread.php?threadid=479017)
I got a question about self dog feeders
It's been a mounth since I started using self feeders for my 2 hounds
one seems to have adjusted to it and is not over eating
but the other hound if he keeps going with it I'm going to have to
make him a bigger hole in his box!!
Should I give him more time or is there anything I can try or change
besides removing the self feeder ?
Thanks for any help Daryl
never had that problem of one not adjusting to the feeder so i really cant offer anything. mine look good at it

I've got one that never could go on a self feeder. So she gets hers daily. Funny thing is she is the easiest keeper but thinks she needs more than all the rest?

get rid of both feeders
self feeders are ok but dogs still eat more than necessary even if many do ok on them. some will eat way too much and get fat and all will eat at least some more than they need. if you want to save on dog food feed them twice a day. watch their weight. if they look ok, cut back just a little bit and see how they handle it. they shouldn't carry any excess weight, it's hard on their joints and life expectentcy, just like us... of course, if you're busy with 100 other things you might have to use them.
