anti silent rule
This started in the bluetick forum but could someone tell me why there are rules in place for disqualifying silent dogs? Seem to me a silent dog would only hurt himself as far as points. Somewhere along the lines some hunters have a dog that was a me too dog and they knew they could never beat a silent dog because their dogs couldn't run into cover? Or is it just the fact that a hound is suppose to open on track because its a hound?

I THINK A DOG IS SUPPOSED TO OPEN ON TRACK. MY QUESTION IS HOW MANY TIMES ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO LET IT GO BEFORE YOU SCRATCH THEM. 2-3-4-5 IT DON'T SAY HOW MANY????

I just strike my pretty much silent one as soon as the loosed mouthed bellering dogs handlers start hollering to strike theres. Oh right about 52 or 53 seconds into the min. I mean usually on a cast you'll have at least 2 that never shut up. They bark so much. They dont know if mines barked or not.

why would hunt one you gotta pitch in the nite hunts? bet he/she earned his degrees at the same club too.
My silent dog will get off to herself and tree the ol ricky. Leaves the meeeetooooing babblers wondering what the heck just went on. Its fun really. Just remember. This time a yr. You strike higher you get minused more on it!

quote:No. Serious. About all of it but the me striking part but Im wanting to do it. Makes me wanna pull my hair out nowdays. Maybe with the breeding of todays barkers. Its about time for me to retire. Unless my new pup is a babbler(1st strike dog) Im through till some sence comes back to them. You might sell me a cur.

babblers
Silent dogs are smart babblers are stupid I can't not believe anyone would hunt a babbler over a silent dog might tell you something.Im not saying when I turn loose my dogs might bark 2-3 times then shut up till they are on a coon,a babbler to me they run around barking till they hit a coon(they are saying I coming I'm coming so mister and miss Co on can get a jump before the dog ever smells them)I hunted with one a couple night ago I felt like chocking my self my old bitch about freaked she never seen 1 like that I would quit if i had to hunt a babbler.just my thoughts not worth much!

boo i got ya .LOL.
The older mine gets the less he opens on track. He catches a ton on the ground also.
It doesn't say (or atleast we couldn't find it) how many times he has to open on track.<----- If it does say please let me know where to find it!! Funniest thing I had happen was a guys dog was a babbler (and of course he was the judge) he kept trying to minus me for having a silent dog. We kept going round and round because I wanted him to minus his dog. He was a bark from the lead to the tree dog. That night it was cold and windy and my dog was only opening once or twice at most then a big bawl locate and tree.
He was soooooo mad but won the cast by over 300+.
