Does this mean I am now a "coonhunter"???
The wife was giving me "down the road" earlier this week about the amount of time I am not spending at home.
She said "you spend more time with that dog than you do me!!!"
I think I can now officially declare that I am a coon hunter! Kinda brings a tear to my eye.
What do you all think?

Sounds like you're heading in the right direction.
You still need to be shot at, cussed at and possibly divorced
Also, work on stretching the truth.
Happy Hunting,
Justin

Not until she says "I think you love those dogs more than you love me" then you know you are a coonhunter and headed towards being ... a single coonhunter!

You are off to a good start but now you will have to throw away several thousand dollars on worthless dogs and several thousand more on equipment that you dont really need, and then you will be a COONHUNTER.

You are getting close.
Now when you get divorced and spend 4K in attorney fees to fight for your dog back...

Had a guy I knew who had a very well dressed and poised wife he still referred to as his bride at 60.
That woman was at all the field trials cooking, running the show, and interacting w full make up, nice clothes, and real jewelry. She even went to Africa with him while he went on a hunt (had a whole room in the house devoted to Africa. Nice house too. Skeet shooting off the deck when they held dinners there.
One of the gals finally asked her one day HOW she put up with it all for SO long. Her reply was 'diamonds and gold'. He went bear hunting, she went shopping. He booked a hunt and she got close the same amount of cash to go buy things for herself that she wanted. She went with him to help run events or support him...he went with her on her things. A deal made and kept from day one that lasted about 40 years at that point.
Neither were ever heard talking bad about the other and there wasn't any mistreatment on either part. He took the grandsons hunting and she took the granddaughters shopping.
Sure she didn't like sitting in a truck next to a stinky hound. Nor did she really like the noise. But boy was she out their feeding and caring for the dogs while he was out of the area working.
I've seen more than my fair share of women who didn't like hunting and the hounds. Hell, even dated guys that didn't like it. But marriage is give and take.
Most quandaries I have seen is when one won't give and the other won't take. Women who can't be happy with anything or a man who does relatively nothing but what he wants seems to be the basis of such issues.
You might want to think...did you marry higher than you can afford to keep? Or are you taking everything you can afford and leaving her with nothing (not just monetarily speaking either).
A man should never feel he married higher than he can keep and a woman should never feel that she married lower than what can keep her.
So think about what is really in it for her. A roof over her head and food to eat is NOT enough! A lot of guys seem to think it is. Think about how you would handle it if she left you with the kids, house, etc and no money to go hunting they way you want while she was out shopping all the time.
I've heard a lot of legitimate gripes coming from wives of hunters. But I have also heard a lot of wives VERY thankful that their hubby has something that makes him happy and provides her the opportunity to be her own person and provide for her own things.
