A poll for Garmin users.

Do you run a radio tracking collar along with your Garmin collar?

ALWAYS-I once dug a dog out of a culvert in the middle of a field and saved his life. The signal from the beep beep collar was totally pin pointable and showed me ecaxtly where to dig, so because of that 1 event I would never go without a beep beep too.

I've got 2 barely used wildlife collars somewhere in my garage and haven't used them in 4 years.

I only used one for a month

After that, I was totally confident in my Garmin. I loaned my Tracker to a boy that is hunting my old dog. The other day, he asked to borrow my spare Garmin and an extra collar. I have a feeling that he is done using the Tracker, also. Just hope he remembers where his Garmin came from. lol

Yes when bear hunting.

No when coon hunting.

2 Reasons

There are 2 reasons I run both:

1) I use a Marshall beep beep with the lights on it. (I primarily run the Marshall because it has LED lights)

2) I have had a Garmin lose signal and even the handheld get submerged and quit working before. I also cannot count on being able to find my dog in the 17 hour time frame that a Garmin collar holds a full charge.... If you aren't fully charged every time you cut loose, then the 17 hours is going to be less than that too...

I had a purchased a new pair of Marshall power max collar less than a year before I purchased a Garmin. I ran both for probably month or two while I adjusted to using the Garmin. Once I got comfortable with the Garmin I never use the Marshalls for tracking. The only time I use the Marshalls is as a lighted collar when occasionally I road hunt a dog or I use them as a 3rd collar as I only have 2 Garmin collars. I use the Marshalls lighted collar feature occasionally when running a pup or something. I might use both if I travel a considerable distance from home, but for the most part I'm completely comfortable with my Garmin.

If ya cant trust your garmin what can ya trust?

I've been putting a wildlife collar on with the Garmin when going to nite hunts this past year.

I've found out a couple times that when a Garmin collar quits you, it QUITS you. They don't usually give you much warning. The beep-beeps are more bulletproof that way.

Plus, those beep-beeps laying around might as well be doing something useful....

I am very hard of hearing and if it weren`t for a garmin i could not go hunting by my self. I jounley hear my dog strike but i can`t tell direction with my hearing aids so i watch my garmin and when he trees i follow it to him. And the garmin is the only tracker out there that will pin point my dog close enough for me to go to him. and know i don`t use another tracker on him.

Always

I have been using my Garmin for about a year and half now, its very rarely I ever have to dig out my beep beep tracking but I want to have that option if i'm not able to pick up my garmin collars, I have had a couple collars just go dead on me while hunting b/c they werent holding a charge and one start loosing communticaion within 200 yrds.

I have never run any other tracking devices with my Garmin. I do run the flashers, which I attached to my Garmin collar. I have been running a Garmin for 3 years and haven't lost a dog yet. I did buy the roof mount antenna this summer and for the most part it collects dust.
