starting now

i got a 6 mo old walker pup that just started running a track but not puting it up. with the rut coming on is it a good time for him to be learning or should i put him up for a while? i ask because i know the old boars can run a long ways and im not 100% sure he wont run a deer so it could be hard to fiure out what he is after. i carry him with my female that doesnt mess with any deer, but does like a possum now and then. what would you guys do

Hunt him. He ain't going to learn a thing in the kennel.

i agree hunt him. with them run more it can only help. as far as runin deer, thats some thing your gonna wanna know as soon as you can so puttin him up aint gonna tell you if he will or not.

Looks like you're in AL. , should be a good time of year to be out. If it was here in Michigan I wouldn't worry to much about a six month old getting out alot.

Hunt him. If he runs deer o well. You can break him later when ya need to

thanks guys, i just put him in the classifieds. i really dont care to get a pup going. i have fun with my female but he i still have him in a week i will hunt him every night until he gets it

he is only 6 months???? just hunt him....i don't mess with them much till at least 8 to 10 months. growing up is just as important to a dog as to a human. lots change as they change. seen some good yr old dogs that were not worth owning at 2 or 3

yea i know but 1 dog is enough for me and my 6 yr old son. we just hunt with each other for fun, nothing serious. i was thinking maybe someone wanted a good pup to start theirself but like i said after 1 week ill hunt him a couple times a week alone and the rest of the week with my female.
