One of them nights!!
I got together with a couple buddy's tonite and we went and did some hunting of blues. Hunted Alice and Butch. We treed 3 coons on the outside, last one we left up the tree, pretty small coon and finished the nite with Alice getting in deep heading for a blacktop road. I hate that feeling! Two buddy's head 1/2 mile back to the truck and I hot footed it towards Alice. She had crossed the road and was treeing in a big pine in someone's front yard. When she fell treed at least I knew from there she wasn't going to get hit by a car. Ok, get to Alice and got greeded by a huge german sheppard and he wasn't to friendly to say the least. I think he wanted a piece of me, grabbed Alice up and headed back to the road to wait for the guys to pick me up. Sometimes I wish I lived where there was more room for a hound to hunt without having to deal with all the roads. The good, Alice is home safe and in the kennel. Thanks Bill for letting me tag along with my biscuit eater, Danny G.

I've lost a few nice young hounds to these roads around here. Sure gives ya a sick feeling when they start heading towards a road. Got a bit wet getting across a flooded creek to get to her. Sure wish these creeks would go down a bit!! Good luck showing at the GA, Danny G.

Good to hear she is still in one piece, & so are you! LOL Those roads are none to friendly to an old buscuit eater up your way. In the meantime, keep giving those ole woodlot coons the what for!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

If there is one thing that will end my coonhunting hobby its chasing dogs on roads and backyards. It really just makes what should be fun very stressful.

I'm glad you got her back safe. Always my biggest fear. Always have to say a little prayer that even if we don't see a single coon the dogs and us make it back safe. Really wish there were more room for the hounds to run! I've done chased our male to the road and it does take your breath away. Lucky for us he made it home safe too!
ya same problem around here ,,they are not making land anymore ..glad all went well

That is all it takes to make it a lot safer to run a dog close to a road or to bring it back off of posted property. If you get a FORCED come it is like a FORCED retreive on a bird dog. It knows what it is to do and knows what it is getting punished for if it doesn't do it.
Get you some distractions at home or at a ball field. Tell it to come and nick it with electric very lightly till it makes body contact. A few lessons like that will save your dogs life and keep you from wondering if it will be alive at the end of the night. Just nick it at the rate your heart beats. After it figures out it has to get to you to turn the shock off and it gets stuburn just pop it a little harder till it complies. If it can't hear you you can allso teach it to come by tone or vibrate just by toneing or vibrateing every time you call it. Before long you won't have to say a word.

Alice really looked good Danny she is a go getting treeing michine
thats foresure. Had a good time and got a little chuckle out of that german sheppard wanting a peice of you. Bill
Thanks Bill
I think ole Tommy was ready to kill us both on Thurs. nite with all the rain coming down. He wasn't sayin much. I got to give him credit, he really took the time to help me find Alice's coon in that big pine at the end of the nite. We got wet but it was alot of fun. I'll get with ya after Christmas to see that youngin go again and have a nice Christmas with the family, Danny G.

Danny - Another adventure in coonhunting!
I am glad to hear that Alice is still her old self. We miss not having her here; but, I know she is better off with you. I trust there will be some more good Alice puppies in the future. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

I'm looking foward to raising another litter out of her soon. She looked like one should on Wends. nite and looked ok in the rain on Thurs. nite. Lookin to hunt as much as possible before the snow starts flying. Thanks again for selling her back to me and Merry Christmas to you and yours, Danny G.

Colt and I slipped out for a quick one tonight. Leon got in a big hollow 800 yards. Drove within 300 yards but it was strait down. Don't know if you noticed I'm not the skinniest guy in Pa. Well he was treed in a big hemlock but we got eye level with the coon cause of the steep hill. Took me a while to get back up the hill. I would take my chances on that level ground. Hope we can get together soon. Glad Alice is safe! Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Your friends,
Ed and Colt Keilman

Some people prefer complete darkness while others enjoy a bit of Car Light Bulbs while they doze away. Because the glow of a nightlight is limited to a small area, you can easily illuminate half the room and leave the other half in relative darkness so that everyone can sleep soundly all night long.
Danny
My woods are much smaller than yours, I gotta have one that stays "In Pocket" to keep em safe... I have been lucky, I thank God for it Too !!! Nice to see Alice back at your place to enjoy..
