Help Please! MT8000 No Sound

I have an MT8000 and it has been great for 10-12 years no problems at all. I loaned it to a good friend and he accidentally plugged the charger into the speaker. Now I have no sound. Still gets bars tracking but no sound. Anybody have any experience with this? Thanks
