Dog tail question

I have a young Plott, about 1 1/2 yrs old, who has been doing pretty good, but I got a question. This week he started holding his tail weird. Instead of up in the regular coondog position, he has been tucking it down between his legs in a submissive or scared type of posture. He still runs and hunts well and acts like nothing is wrong, but the tail position changed overnight.
Anybody got any ideas what's going on?
