Attn. Tn Coon Hunters

I was watching the news and 2 men from Green. Co. in east Tn are accused of animal abbuse to a caged coon due to the guys neighbor saying they let the dogs kill the coon the guy says that he caught the coons on his property and let the coon go away from the dogs. to me this doesnt sound right but what do you all think about this

I am 99% certain that your County SPCA will tell you that they are noway affiliated with HSUS, while that literature is laying on the Information rack as public handouts. Like any other program, the more charges they can trump up the bigger kingdom and higher % of County budget is, in their minds, justified. For example, if I slipped up to your kennel with you not around to get pictures to build a case against you what are the chances I could get a picture of an empty dogfood bowl and terrified looking dogs peeking out of their houses. Possibly even get a pic of a turned over water bucket that a dog excited by a stranger just caused him to turn over? I am not surprised at any lengths they will go to.In their own imagination they are rendering a service the County cannot do without, even though it has done quite well without them till the cancer burst about ten years ago.

Well, you can't fix stupid. Shouldn't have been training where neighbors could see anyway. And your not supposed to have a live animal in a trap or roll cage either.

well here is a point to think about every coon hunter is guilty of this regardless its not a pet its a wild animal and the rule book for this are training season is open year around if you have pups then its a good way to train granted should have done it in the woods but he claims it wasnt killed so whats the problem i dont see one

game warden told me one time that i could use a live trap to catch coon as long as the land owner knows.

Posted by plentyofpossum on 11-11-2011 02:37 PM:

POSSESSISION OF LIVE ANIMALS
No person shall, at any time or by any means,
possess or transport live animals taken under
the authority of the hunting and trapping
season proclamations.

This was copied from TWRA's website, and plainly says you cannot possess a live animal. If you want to risk possessision or transport of one so be it, but when you get caught that twra agent will deny ever saying you could. Your choice.

Why wouldn't it hold up in court? They told the news media they had a live coon and was aggravating the dogs with it. That video alone is enough for atleast one charge maybe both. They shouldn't have said anything to the media. It would have been perfectly legal to shoot the coon in the cage, and then use it on the dogs. But they screwed up.

yea I get what your saying but atleast they was honest

A warden does not have the authority to authorize you to break the law. He might say that he would "not cite you for transporting a live coon so go ahead and do it" but that does not mean you can tell another warden that he allowed it and expect to not be in violation of the law.
