I'm thinking there may be a lack of replies because of my name. I'm not a coon hunter myself, but I'm looking to surprise my little brother for Christmas! I don't understand this whole thing, but he loves it and wants a tritronics system badly! So any help would be great!

Thanks guys! Looks like the majority of you all like the Classic 70. Do all recommend buying straight from tritronics or somewhere else? You coonhunters are a HUGE help! I appreciate this!

.

The tri tronics classic 70 exp (exandable) and the TT trashbreaker exp are basically the same system with the difference being range which is advertized as one mile on Classic 70 and 2 mile on trashbreaker.

You have to understand what you want in a system and what the systems offer you. Some are straight electric stimulation, some tone and some tone and vibrate and some do all three at the same time. There are aslo single dog TT classic 70's that could save your some money if you just need it for ONE dog. The EXP can handle up to 6 dogs. The TT mentioned above Tone and Stimulate.

Classic 70 G3 EXP

I think they are all priced the same, regardless of who you buy it from.

Go to the coonhounds classifieds section here and go into the DOG SUPPLY VENDORS. There are a number of folks that sell them. I'd suggest you buy it from one of them and support the little guy.

JMO

go with the trashbreaker ....you can never have too much distance

Posted by J_Williams on 11-03-2011 02:53 PM:

There is a difference between advertised distance and the actual distance the unit will reach in the field. This should be taken into consideration based on the terrain your brother hunts. In the mountains and hills with thick foliage the 1 mile system will probably only work serveral hundered yards and the 2 mile closer to a true mile. Where as in flat open country both systems will work closer to what they are advertised as.

I agree, you dont have to use it al, but sometimes it is nice to have. Like already said, the range advertised is on flat open land. You loose some range in woods and a lot of range in hills.

Lynsie what part of KY are you from?Id say your little brother would be happy no matter what you get him but if you all are from the hills and hollers like me I would definately get him a trashbreaker.Like the guys said you cant never have enough range no matter where youre from.As far as where to buy it,customer service is always number 1 in my book so I would try this guy http://www.conkeysoutdoors.com/
