No feed for 2 days. Only about 8 to 10 ounces of water for those two days and she will be dry.

Her body will absorb all the milk back into her system for her own use. Will not harm the female at all.

After that I put bag balm on her tits about 3 to 5 times a couple days apart.

This may not be the perfect way but it works for me:

On days 1-3 limited water: 2 or 3 cups max and only a half ration of regular food fed to her at the same time you feed your other adults.

Day 1 : I take her away from her puppies all day. I bring her to them to nurse for about 3 minutes three times: Morning, noon and night. I call it "nursing off the top". It helps take the pressure off her and tells her body not to produce as much.

Day 2 : I only bring her in twice for the same amount of time.

Day 3 : Only one time.

Day 4 & 5: I still limit her water and half ration of food. No nursing but watch her.

This seems to be the least stressful on the mamma and the puppies. She can "check on them" and they are reassured that she's around. With a little food in her belly and the peace of mind she has, she will not bark or carry on as much.

The other thing I can say is to hunt her ASAP. Exercise will help dry her up and take her mind off the puppies.

Again, this is by no means scientific, but it has worked for us in our coonhounds and boston terrier litters we've raised.

use camphor spirts its always worked for me rub it on her tits 2 times a day it usally dries them up pretty quick

ya gotta quit suckin on em first cous,just goofin,cant wait too hunt with her,after i get over this crap,of course!
