Finally!!!!

Opening night of coon season.

Rdennis and his daughter Mandy and I hit the woods at dark. We were cranked! We soon got deflated though. Made a quick tree and couldn't find that one and then the dogs had to work real hard to find another one. The coon looked a couple of times but never enough to get a shot. We were wanting to let Mandy get her first coon.

'Yotes were swarming all around us and I think they had the coons gone because after the second tree the dogs never did anything but get on an old cold one.

We finally made another drop and they got on a decent track on put one up a tree without so many leaves and he was in trouble.

Rick had Molly and I had Sadie and Ty, it was a good start.

You have a pretty long squirrel season as a consolation prize though. And when your coon season does come in you sure have a pile of em, albeit a mite cold.

we had the same kind of night last night. finally got on a decent track and found one on the outside. good job and good looking dogs.

the later season gives the coons time to get there fur and hide in prime condition. a local fur buyer told me he would give me $15 a piece for a large, green, prime hide, and $7 for an average prime hide. it's alot better than nothing or $1 or $2.
